Bedroom or Second TV

Hi all

With the imminent arrival of my mother in law for a convalescence period, I'm engineering my own form of female resistant bunker. Think of the Waco commune, and imagine my wife and her mother as the agents using tanks to infuse my commune with their own version of illogical female CS gas, with ingredients of "natter" and "chit chat".

One minute the Rugby Club or Air Crash Investigation, Downton Abbey and Love Actually the next! You get the picture.

So and without braking yet another bank I'm trying to get a list of possible bunker TV'S. I can get a Panasonic TX 42GT30 for £500, a year or so ago regularly voted as tv of the year. I have a Bose Cinemate system already that can improve the sound so apart from being Bose, this solves 1 problem.

Ideally and with a bit more cash I'd like a 7-32 but without HDMI connections I,m struggling to stream either Apple tv or Sky through a Roku box(at least that has component output whereas the Apple tvs HDMI only) An 8-40 would be ok but are hard to get and possibly a bit to much money. I know of a 6-26 locally that is the last model with HDMI at £1750, but after adding a stand why would I really spend an £1400 extra just to get an HDMI socket over say a 6-26 that is HD ready with DVI?

So I want a Beovision 7-32 with a Beolab 7-2 and HDMI for its size and sound, but can't find one. The Beovision 5 HD might be a possible but the picture isn't really for me to be honest.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

What about a BV8-32? Gives you all you need for quite small money.

It all depends on your budget, why not get a 7-40 or 7-32 screen only using your Bose for the sound?  Then use a dvi adapter to get your signal in, but anything less than 32 is barely worth the hd. I would definitely get a B&O tv as I don't think I could cope with not having one! You could always get a masterlink cable from your main set to get full advantage of a link features.

Your right, I know the Panasonic's good but there's more to it as we all know, B&O it really has to be. The 8-32 is also an option but hard to find. Budget £1500 max(I have seen a 10-32 at £2350) so this might slip, again!

I couldn't get a 7 without the speaker and stand. Think Keira Knightly's head without a body and legs! Nice but.......

For your budget I bet you get a bv7-40 it most probably will be a mk2, that's what I have and it's a nice set you would easily get a newer 7-32 for that budget just keep em peeled on eBay  

Having had a mk3 I don't think I could. Bidding on an 8-26 so we will see.

Just as an update, I picked up an 8-26 today complete with stand and Beo 4 and compared to my now redundant 6-22 the picture and sound are fantastic.

 

 

Looks a very neat tv and as somebody who always lambasted it, i must now admit I've got one at home, I was utterly wrong. From what I hear the 8-40 is a much better picture again so who knows!

I can honestly say that i regret not being an owner of one of these sooner, and for it not to be just updated/made sleeker etc instead of making the V1 is, is now with a lot of hindsight madness.
