Hi all,

As if this morning my beogram 4002 (5514) no longer responds to the up/ down button being pressed. The tone arm light no longer illuminates and therefore the solenoid does not activate to drop the arm when up/ down are pressed nor when the tonearm mechanism is travelling to the point to where it would normally drop.

I have studied the circuit diagram all morning and I’m hoping it’s one transistor that is knocking out these connected functions?

Any ideas from those who have extensive experience of this deck please?

Kind regards,

There are a lot of possibilities so start with the basics.
Check all of the Beogram 4002 power supply outputs. You need to make sure voltages are where they need to be (and if they are missing from where they are supposed to be).  That will help you narrow down where the problem is.

Hi, thanks. Turned out the bulb in the tonearm had broken the circuit. The arm drops with a new bulb, however I’m having allotment problems and the sensor has become dislodged.

The 4002 now drops as it should the tracking arm

seems to operate, unfortunately the motor now does not operate on 33 rpm. The saga continues
