Cool if it's actually a concentrically drilled marble cylinder, not so cool if it's resin "solid surfacing" [Edit: wallpaper on wood].  Price differential is US$500 -- will that be just marketing money or actually spent on materials?  (The product sheet doesn't list it yet under "variants" to know for sure.)  If so, that is going to be *the* new "it" bathroom speaker -- 'nuff o' that Beosound 35 -on-a-wall 20th-century-style nonsense!  (Wait, what?!?  You mean to say you don't have Sherle Wagner matte-gold faucets on your Calacatta marble vanity?  Rube... :-)

I am most certain that it’s actual marble. Hinting the $500 increase. Love the marble and light fabric. Not so sure about the gold though.

I wonder what will be the colour palette for the 97th Anniversary Collection?

Marble would generate a much bigger margin than only $500! ie. if that base was all marble, no way would it be $500 more.

I can't find anything on the site which indicates it's actually marble?

I wonder how it stacks up compared to a BeoSound 2 which I love (I have 2!)? Anyone heard them side by side?

Yes, but in the same way an Edge wipes the floor with the BS2, but has such a weird heavy bass it makes it almost unenjoyable?

I own an Edge, too, but it's such a weird sound. It's like the primary focus was bass. BeoSound 2 is far better speaker. Good bass, but wider overall sound.

No not at all, the balance sounds big and natural. The room comp also works nicely to keep it all clean sounding. The bass is big but not overpowered when it doesn’t need to be. It sort of sounds like 2 bl17’s with similar power but from one point in the room.

Keep the silk it’s still nicer.

I also bought a brass one which i use with the BV14

But i still love the silk one more.

I wonder what that silk would be like finished on speakers - I’m sure I’d love it.

Michael, can you take a shot or two of the silk remote? I was looking at one online, but it's hard to get a sense how it compares or feels like in your hand?

Now I can not decide what to get for my next living room TV :). I do like the glossy ones as well. The silk one is very nice and a subtle feeling of the sand used to make it matte. The glossy ones stick more to your hand.

I have all glossy color and the silk version of BR1 in my collection

But for every day I use the silk BR1 because the handfeeling is so soft as a babyskin Wink

It is hard to make scratches on it.

The glossy are more sensitive but all colors have her own plus with the different furnishing

The best decision is to buy all color like me Big Smile

You are crazy :D but I agree. The silk is nice. I already have one so I think I want to have two different ones anyway. I do have a scratch on my silk one but it doesn't matter. The non silk one has some too but mainly small dents. Its also ok. Its a think you use :).

The black one should be cool in silk. Gold one in silk would also be cool.

Crazy haha!

I want a blue one. But the gold one maybe. Or just stick with my regular one. Hate choices. Luckily I can’t spend money on having multiple ones :) wish they sold the aluminum part separately. So easy to switch.

They do.  It's how you repair the dings & dents.  Maybe not the special editions?  But both the silk and polished shells were available from my dealer, for USD195.  (A new remote is USD375.)

Well, slightly flippant reply as it depends on the source of the marble to be fair. And you can also use a porcelain 'marble' and no-one would be any the wiser.

It doesn't determine the source of the marble. There's a big difference in price between Italian and, say, Chinese marble. Doesn't say where it's sourced.
