Hi All
Hope I'm posting this in the right area.
I've replaced the belts on a Beocord 3500 but now the rotating head does not seem to be activated by anything so is free to rotate and jam the deck. I think I've replaced the main flat belt correctly but because it was basically a liquid I had to guess the correct path (with the 2 capstans at the bottom I've routed the belt around the outside of the left one then over the outside of the black cog at the top then around the motor pulley and back through the center of the 2 capstans).
Could some please advise if there is a correct alignment and what actually rotates the head ?
Is there a tape deck service manual available ?
TIA

Has the spring at the back of the tapehead, that makes it snap into position, fallen off?

Hi
I think your right - there is no spring on the tape head.
Can you advise what type of spring this should be and where it anchors to at both end please?
TIA (again)
I think after experimentation the belts are right as FF and REW work - play loads the heads but they are misaligned preventing the spools rotating.
Believe there is a missing spring on tape head gear as suggested by Dillen.
Looking for advise as to what and where this spring goes please.
Regards
Would anyone have a photo that includes the back of the tape head showing the rotating gear and spring please (version 2 tape deck I believe)?
Thanks
Thank you for the picture - I'll see if I can make a similar spring.
