Beside adding a NL/ML Delay Box (PN: 8052438), which didn't add enough latency to the audio, are there other tricks where there might be something in the BV10 service menu that can be tweaked which could help out with the latency in combination with the delay box?
There should be some dip switches on the side of the delay box that allow you to increase or decrease the delay in ms. Are your network link devices hard wired or on wifi? The delay box is probably configured for the Ethernet delay by default which is significantly less than wifi. Note that you can only add delay to audio coming from the NL side going into Masterlink to match network latency, not the other way round, so if distributing TV from the BV10 to NL speakers, the NL speakers will be delayed and out of sync with the BV10 due to the time it takes for the analogue to digital conversion. Rob.
The setup I have includes no speakers on NL everything is hardwired via ML-network and only NL product that I have is the Moment which is out of scope for latency issues. I recon that the BV10 internally generates slight latency due to the audio processing for the TV-audio and the audio which is being feed into the ML has no latency (or extremely low latency). So connecting the BV10 ML to the delay box (ML only) and then feeding the output to the ML-networks works out fine it's just that the 340ms which is the max latency that the delay box can add isn't enough. Don't remember if there is something in the BV10 service menu to manipulate the latency for ML (doubt) or whether there are any hardware mod that can be done to the delay box to increase the delay; I would say I need something around 400ms.
Is there a Game mode you can put it to? This would reduce any local processing. Is it the masterlink delay box you've got or the NL/ML delay box? The beolink manual (page 19) says it's the former you need, although the NL/ML delay box software can be changed back using a service tool :
* The ML Delay Box has previously been sold as Part No. 8052427 and is now replaced by the NL/ML Delay Box with the Part No. 8052438,
although the SW must be replaced with Built H8 101a and be installed using the ServiceTool. Both acting as a Master Link Delay Box.
- SW built H8 101a installed via the ServiceTool is used to delay audio from ML TV
- SW built 202a and newer, as are delivered with products Part No. 8052438 is used to delay sound between NL products and ML Audio Master
products.
It's the NL/ML Delay Box (PN: 8052438) that I'm using. I did also check the Beolink Manual and while it states what it does it doesn't outline what the technical difference would be and also states the ML box has been replaced by the NL/ML box and they do the same thing...
I believe the NL/ML delay box automatically removes the delay when playing from a ML video source - it's somehow able to identify the source type playing on the line. This could be the main difference and causing a problem for you. It would appear the software can be changed on your delay box, probably something a service centre could do for you.
Ah, Ok this would make sense with the different firmwares. When having the Delay Box between BV10 and ML-network I kind of find it hard to actually hear if the delay is less or not and I kind getting the feeling of placebo effect here reading what you're saying. On the other hand when connecting the Delay Box between a the ML-network and a BL3500 I clearly can hear that I can create a delay, so the box works, but I guess that it being tricked maybe then by the BLC that I have for the Moment.

Yep it's working as intended then, it sees the BLC (NL/ML converter) as the ML audio master so adds delay to the BL3500, but when connected to the TV, it recognises it as a video source and removes the delay.
The manual says you'll need to configure the delay box to 160ms to match the BV10 once you get it updated with the correct firmware.
Rob.
Got the Delay Box firmware re-flashed with the SW built H8 101a to ensure that the unit acts in correct way when connected to the BV10 and with that problem solved. I set it first to the default delay of 149ms which was almost perfect but jumping up one step to 159ms it's perfect.
So thanks for helping sorting it out for me!
Excellent, well done! Glad to help.
