I have purchased beo 6000 speakers. Can anyone help with some info please. Because they are active speakers do they have their own DAC. I'm running direct from a streamer through a tibo2 or my phone/laptop direct into the RCA via a dac. I'm considering whether the dac is required because the conversion may be limited by the speaker dac.. I'm also interested how I can upgrade the signal from the streamer /tibo2. In the sonos there is a optical port and perhaps that solution is available with the tibo. Im grateful for any help or opinion. Tia.
Since there are no digital input options on the BL6000 (which I guess you mean), your question makes no sense.
What you need is preamp with volume control - it you want to connect digital sources there, it of cource needs some kind of DAC too.
You can connect e.g. a smartphone/laptop directly to the BL6000’s - however, you will notice that it will be difficult to handle the volume control, not smooth at all.
(P.S. I don’t know what a tibo2 is and Google did not either).MM
There is a tv - and there is a BV

Oh that is a nice little one - was that the one that Steve/SoundsHeavenly used to sell?
Seems to be plug’play with the BL6000’s.
Can’t say how smooth the volume control with the app will be.
Please tell us more about it, once set up.

Well I got set up and wasn't impressed tbh. Then I realised spotify use poor bitrates. So i moved to tidal and now im pretty pleased. Thespeakers don't seem as rich as my bw speakers and maramtz amp but I think there may be improvements to be had b improvingthe dac from the tibo. I'm not sure how I can do that yet and I may try bypass the tibo to see how good the speakers really are. I am currently in the middle of that. I was thinking of usb from my phone/laptop to a dac and then into the rcA on the speakers. The tibo is ok but it seems to be just a blootooth reciever at present. I can see the app and it looks promising but I can't get it to operate yet.
...and as for ‘upgrade DAC’, even the DACs in these small devices nowadays are reasonable.
Different DACs will sound different (have different sound characteritics), but that does not mean better or worse.I am sure you won’t gain anything with a set of BL6000.
However, if you really want to know, you’ll have to try it out!
In the end, you are the one who will listen.
You won’t be able to bypass the DAC in the Tibo, when you want to have the 6000’s connected there/PL.
The SW of the Tibo seems to be somewhat the same as what is used for several small Audiocast network devices. Looks the same as what drives my little iEast device (which I use only as a Spotify Connect receiver).
I thought that might the the case. I think i prefer the floorstanding bw and marantz combo as it stands but that was in a completely different property and a few years ago. Memory is a strange thing sometimes (maybe all the time). I think the tibo would be good if i had wifi and it all went together very easily except for that final app although It still works fine through bluetooth. Ive purchased a fancy dac with rave reviews and i will try that with my phone or laptop to see if it makes any difference. I went for the tibo cos it has the correct connection for the speakers 8 pin plug. So tomorow im gonna try coming out of my phone or laptop by usb to bypass that dac and into the highly rated dac and hopefully into the rca on the speakers. I hope to give that a try tomorow. Im not sure what ports are available into the dac so i hope that i can find a soloution. all good fun.
Sorry, but the Tibo has wifi and has an ethernet port as well - so why not get it online!
Just go ahead with the app.
It also has a line-in port - you could hook the analog output of your DAC up there for a start.
I don't have a router and that's why the app won't load properly. It gets stuck trying to connect to WiFi . I'm not sure of the benefit of I fed DAC into the tibo.
Well then - a device like the Tibo is made for being online....apart from the BT function.
I guess you use mobile internet then - since you spoke from Spotify and Tidal....
Lets hear how you get along.
