Hello all,

I have a beo6 since 2011 and during all these years it served me well. A couple of days ago I was zapping through some TV content and it stopped working. Screen went total black no backlight on the keys no response of the TV to the commands send. Tried to charge it with no luck. Switched to a new freshly charged battery, again a no go. Browsed the forum and tried the different solution proposed here but again no luck. I have been using the latest firmware since the day it was available and this worries me the most as it shouldn't have the known issue with the bootloader. If anyone has some idea of what to do please post it cause lately I am loosing faith on B&O as within a month I have lost a Beosound Moment and now a Beo6....

Thanks in advance

Have you tried to upload a new configuration with the latest 6.84 config tool ?

Hello and thank you for your reply. I cannot upload a configuration cause the configuration tool doesn't connect to beo6 (the little triangles have the red line ontop).

Do you know any other way to upload a configuration?

No, there is no other way. If you have tried with a good know fully charged battery, and then connect to the config tool, and it does not show up, maybe it is actually dead for once, even though I have not seen one completely dead yet. I have seen 2 where the touch functionality dies.

Have you tried with 5.12/6.0/6.62 and 6.84 config tools ?

I tried with 6 6.62 and 6.84. It seems so strange cause we were taking really good care of it.

Taking good care, does not negate bad design/hw/sw :(

It is a complex remote, however, as I said, I have not seen anyone die totally, but off course it can happen with all electronics.

I use a Win7 32bit, and then just install the 5.12, try with that, 6.0, try with that, and so on. At some point they normally get recognized by the config tool, and can accept a new blank configuration.

the thing that gives me hope is that it is recognised by windows....the configurator tool though does not "see"it.

I am trying to find a 32-bit PC and it looks impossible. When I put the beo6 on the base I get a message that the device was not recognized by windows. I then try to install the driver manually and I get a message that the driver is not made for 64-bit systems.....

Any ideas?

Hi Weebyx

Maybe you can help?

I have an fully function Beo6, with new batteries.

I put it in my XP laptop with CT 6.84, it was updated, I think?

It now says "No Valid Confirguration" This, I think also is normal, since it is now 64 bit software in Beo6

Then i put it in my other laptop with Win7 64 bit again with CT 6.84,

The CT 6.84 recognizes the Beo6, and under info it says v3.40a, but no configuration.

I made an simpel configuration, and wil finalize, but the labtop drops the Beo6 and nothing is happend.

For information, I have external power to the Beo6 to besure there is power enough.

Do you have any sugestion?

It is normal that the Beo6 is disconnected when uploading configuration, but it should upload anyway after some time ?

Hello again, I had my beo6 back from the service a couple of days ago and it works fine except that I can't upload a configuration. I tried both 6.84 and 6.00 but when the beo6 gets disconnected during the upload process it is recognized by windows (10, 64bit) as a beo5 and the process stalls. Any ideas?

This just sound like the issue I am having with one of my remotes, I have not yet found a solution to it.

Hi,

I may join the club soon :(

After reading your recent posts, I decided to look at a spare beo6 I have in a drawer.
When stored it was fully charged and turned off. Conveniently updated to last firmware.

Now it refuses to turn on. I will let it charge overnight but I would not be surprised if it act like your two remotes too.

Hello to all,

I totally understand and respect the knowledge of Keith and I am sure he knows very well what he is talking about but I have a gut feeling that this is due to windows 10 64-bit. A speculation could be that after an update something changed and the driver doesn't work as it used to. Is there anyone who can try to upload a configuration using a 32-bit version of windows 10?

It has nothing to do with Win10-64. I have tried Win10-32/64, and also Win7-32.

This has to do with the Beo6 not staying in the correct bootloader mode, and therefore will not accept a configuration.

I have tried every possible combi of Config Tool version vs Windows, and also each Config Tool on fresh installed Windows, just to be sure that it has nothing to do with cached drivers etc.

Off course your Beo6 could have other problems, and might as well work with a Win7-32 and latest Config Tool, but no-one can try anything on their PC/Their remote, that can help you to a solution. You need to try everything your self.

I have many Beo5/6, and the working ones works with Win7-32 and Beo6 with Win10-64(CTool 6.84 since this is the only one that works on 64bit)

I will try a 32-bit windows xp machine asap but what I do not understand is how one day the remote is no longer able to upload a configuration when it had no problems doing it so far.Huh?

Because it has come to my attention, that these remotes suck :)

I love the remote for the functionality it can be programmed to do, but it is not very robust HW wise, even though I have no idea how the remote can work, but bot allow a configuration to be uploaded, which indicates to me, that if programmed with some wrong combination of drivers/config tool/other, it is possible that after an upload of configuration, some low level sw will be the wrong version, and therefore not allow the upload.

Hello again, I am delighted to report that I managed to upload a configuration today on a 64-bit windows 10 machine but using the CT 6.0 version. Although the firmware on my beo6 is 3.30a the upload was done without any issues. My problem now is that CT6.0 has no support for beosystem 4.....

Hello again!!!! I managed to upload a configuration in 6.84 as well. What I did was to upload a configuration using the 6.0, then I uninstalled it restart the pc and install 6.62. I then  uploaded a configuration. Then I uninstalled the 6.62, restarted the pc and installed the 6.84. The upload was done without any issues.

I believe it's a good thing you did an upload with the last CT as it will update the firmware to 3.40a which is the last one and seems to definitely cure the deep sleep issue.

Then I dont know about specific setups about your beosystem missing in the 6.60 CT but maybe they can be imported from CT 6.84 by copying some files and pictures in the appropriate folders. This is because CT 6.60 allows something interesting which was removed from CT 6.84: programming of the hard keys (the ones on the ball) and which can be very useful.
