Hello fellow beoworld inhabitants,this is my first time on the net as A GOLD MEMBER!!! So i am a little bit shy.
So,yesterday I recieved my pair of Beovoxes s45-2 from an ebay seller ,saying everything was 100% Ok.
The teak matches perfectly the furnture of my living room,even my wife agreed.Once connected on my old kenwood ampilifier (100W),on the lowest level the right one sounded like brzwwww on the woofer,and the mid doesn t produce any sound. tweeter sounds ok.....The left one is honey for my flap ears (verry practicle nowadays for covid masks)So I decided to try to send both back,I hope the guy will agree.
I realy don't think i blew the right one up,cause i gave the left one the same treatment,and that one still sounds heavenly.
Born with a silver spoon in my mouth,and ears trained for BO sound,I rememberd that my late father left a pair of beovoxes 2400 in the attic. Dusted them of,took of his weird connections and tried them on my 'old kenwood' taking care to put it on 4 ohms on low volume.BOOM Back in the past,isee my father dancing again everything is great!
Question.What to do to never loose or damage the sound of my past ? what if i do 8 ohms? What if i push the volume? I Think i an old BO amplifier,don t I ? Nothing wrong by your side connecting it to 100W,at 4 ohm Kenwood amp,at moderate listening level.Probably faulty s45-2 was faulty before.
Beovox 2400 should be fine with Kenwood,and you can push up volume,until you hear distorsion.That's the limit.Hopefully,you will not reach that stage.
If you do 8 ohms on yours Kenwood,most probably nothing is going to happen,apart of Kenwood will produce much more heat...
Btw,Beovox 2400 are well paired with Beomaster 1000.Try to get one,and enjoy full vintage B&O.
