Hi there,

A few weeks ago I purchased a pair of Penta Mk2s which I’d intended to use with Overture/Beovison 7. Today they arrived and they are Mk1s, without Powerlink. I have connected them up to my trusty tube amp which normally drives a pair of MS150.2s - an interesting comparison!

Anyway, it is my understanding Powerlink is effectively line level and Speakerlink relies on amplification... that being the case, can one buy/make a cable from Powerlink to RCA line in on the speakers? Taking it further, could one add the data line into the Speakerlink plug while audio feeds into line in? Or are the data systems to make the displays work incompatible ?

Thanks in advance

There was an official B&O-made adapter (Powerlink Mk2 to RCA + SpeakerLink data pins). I did try that with my BV7 and Penta MkIs, but I couldn't get the displays working in that combo. I don't think it even powered the amps on/off (so I had to let it sense it from the audio, thus on silent passages the amps would switch off).

I couldn't make it work, so I went back to connecting the Pentas to my Beosystem 7000, and using a Masterlink converter I can get the audio from the TV thrue to the AUX. Ie. the TV and the audio system are running on their own, not ideal, but in most cases I'll just use the TV speakers as they are so good, Pentas I might use only when seriously watching a movie and want to go loud....

Sorry to reopen this, but this is the only mention I can find of powerlink-speakerlink data connections. I know you said yours didn't work very well, but I'm desperate to find a way to keep the Pentas active during film playback.

Is there information somewhere about the speakerlink data signals being provided? Can the data pin on a powerlink MK2 be connected directly?
