More of an expression of contentment than a question really but I have just bought a Beosound Moment and connected it to my BV10 speakers via my Core. It is a massive improvement from using my phone/ipad for streaming music. I really like the interface on the Moment. It feels like a wholesome, pure Bang & Olsen experience now, from Moment to Speaker, with no fiddling around with a phone. And I love the look of the Moment, completely beats having an iPad lying around, or on a stand. Great device, works perfectly, creates a special music browsing experience - very happy B&O customer!

Congrats!

It would be great if TIDAL Connect were built into these devices and the Halo.

Currently: BeoLab 17, BeoLab 18, BeoSound Core, Beosound Level, Beosound A1 2nd Gen, BeoPlay S8 Connection Hub, Halo, Essence Remote

Previously: BeoSound 1 non-GVA

For an even better integrated experience, you can play the Moment through your BV10 speakers by connecting the BV10 to an NL/ML Converter. The Moment can then see the BV10 in its speaker setup and completely integrate with the BV10.

Thanks but I don't know what that would add to what I have now. I hit N-Music on the Beo4 and then use the Moment. I can select speaker 1-5 via the Beo4. Happy days.

The NL/ML Converter will give you true integration. For example, using the screen controls on the Moment will turn on the Beovision. A long press in the middle of the wheel will turn off the Beovision. Running your finger along the wheel of the Moment will control the volume of the Beovision.

Does this integration of Moment and Beovision work with current B&O TVs (like Eclipse or Harmony), too?

It does. This is was is considered an integrated setup. In addition to having a Moment integrated with a BV10 in my bedroom, I also have a Moment integrated with a BeoSystem 4 in my living room (which is already NL so it does not need an NL/ML Converter). There is one tv that I believe does not support this, however. I can't remember which one it is.

There is a setting on the Moment under "Speakers" to "Use TV Speakers." Selecting this will give a list of any BeoVisions/BeoSystems on the NL network from which to select. Running your finger along the wheel of the Moment will even control the volume of the TV when playing video sources -- not just the Moment's sources.

No the Moment does not integrate with Eclipse and Harmony anymore. A shame as you can only integrate it through Multiroom. I’ve setup my moment as stand alone device without speakers and can join it with my Eclipse and speakers. But I cannot adjust the sound level on the Moment, need to use the remote on the Eclipse.

In general I feel the Moment platform has died before it was working 100% as it should. The interface and experience is unparalleled but was poorly executed from start. The Halo should be a sort of substitute for it but is not due to very limited software and interface. I would opt for a Moment mk2 without a hartbeat but unfortunately it is not going to happen.

Cherish your Moment ad long as you can, with all its limitations, it is a true B&O experience!

I only hope there will be a fix for the gracenote / moodwheel issue. Let this be the Christmas miracle for 2020...

BV Harmony 65 / Eclipse 55 / BL 50 / 19 / 18 / BS 2 all brass

BV Horizon 48 / V1 40 / BL 17 / Beoplay S3 all black

V1 / BL 3 / BS Essence MKII / Beoplay A3 all white

BS Moment / BS 3000 / BS 3200 / BL 400 all silver

Headphones / bluetooth speakers / BLC NL-ML / BLGateway

I know…B&O virus has grown on me !

In my blissful ignorance, I do not even know what the problem is with the Moodwheel! Mine seems to work, or at least works to my satisfaction. It's great to be able to play a random selection of music according to my mood/environment.

Is there some widely reported problem with the function?

I've got an Ouverture and a BL3500 masterlinked to the BV10 already so I would have to get a junction box and fiddle around with adding the convertor to the mix. My Moment currently routes through the Core and through the Aux input on the Ouverture.

That is really disappointing. Especially considering that the Beosound Moment still was sold when the Beovision Eclipse was introduced end of 2017. One reason less to purchase an expense Beovision.

Are there any reasons left to purchase a Beovision today?

It’s the simplest and only way to get an integrated center channel into a surround sound setup?

Oh, and I think the Harmony is a very beautiful, compelling way to hide an ugly big, black screen when not in use. At 65”, 77” or 88”, the big, black mirror hanging in a living room that is otherwise nicely decorated is pretty ugly and a designer’s nightmare. Harmony is a great, albeit expensive solution.

This and the integration across a surround system are the reasons I see. The problem is that they’re just ridiculously priced, Beovisions. Even if you subtract out the cost for an AV surround receiver, a media cabinet and standalone subwoofer, the cost of a B&O TV-based surround system STILL is hard to justify, IMHO. Especially the case when the LG panel is a commodity, so you’re just paying for a pretty Sound Center, essentially.

That said, I want a Harmony 65” if my surround system is going to be in my main living room. If I had a dedicated room for my TV and surround system, I would care less what the TV looks like when not in use and I wouldn’t buy B&O. There are too many other much more cost effective speaker manufacturers out there.

My two cents... as a big B&O fan. I just think the market for $15k+ televisions was small to begin with and is shrinking.

My two cents to this topic.
Technically it is understandable, that B&O does not support the integration of a Beosound Moment. Because TuneIn, Deezer, Netlink NL, Airplay, etc. are already integrated in todays Beovisions, theoretically there is no need for an additional Audio Master.
But from the user experience it is a horror. The Beosound Moment at least tried to manage different audio sources (local mp3 files and Deezer) with a common user interface (MoodWheel, search function, genres selection / search) addressing different user needs.
Instead Bang&Olufsen offers a useless B&O app regarding the manage / selection of music content, today. After 3 years of development it still does not offer any useful integration of local mp3 files and a limited Deezer access. Not talking about a integrating of additional streaming provider like Apple Music, Tidal, etc.
So from the technical viewpoint B&O made the correct decision. From the usability / software development view point a low cost Chinese manufacturer could not do it worse.
I do not understand why B&O is not able to purchase some Sonos loudspeaker and test the Sonos App to get at some ideas how an integration could work ...

Exactly right

And that's why I went down the Roon route.

Yes it's not cheap, but what is these days

The B&O app is not useless, but it's also limited and unsatisfying.

And yet, amazingly, there are those who seem to think that B&Os software has become very good!
