My Beogram 8002 has an issue were the platter speed is too fast and it does not respond to selecting 33 or 45, just spins at same fast speed. Does anyone know what can cause this?

Thank You!

Hi,

If your Beogram 8002 is still running on its original components then those types of failures are pretty common. You are most likely experiencing faults due to out of tolerance capacitors or failing capacitors. Those issues are affecting proper voltages in the Beogram circuitry.  That results in the Beogram decision logic not working correctly. Another common issue is with failing solder joints. Especially at board connections. Other possibilities are some failing optical sensors, though less common.

Repair of those type of issues are standard with the Beogram 8002 turntable. Once corrected the turntable should run like new again.
