Things look rather good/better for the first Q of their fiscal year!

Link to the report: https://investor.bang-olufsen.com/static-files/03547dbb-2f46-4ed6-bc85-1553b93b1683

"Bang & Olufsen achieved double digit growth in the quarter. This is the first time since Q1 2018/19, the company delivered year-on-year revenue growth.

The financial performance was driven by good progress on strategy execution as well as effects from COVID-19.

The company experienced higher demand for home entertainment as well as higher sell-out compared to Q1 last year, espe- cially in the monobrand channel.

Revenue was DKK 462m, which was an in- crease of 10.3% year-on-year (11% in local currency).

The gross margin was 42.8%, which was 6.1pp higher than last year, reflecting higher revenue and a changed product mix.

EBIT was DKK -41m (Q1 19/20:
DKK -129m), equivalent to an EBIT margin of -9.0% (Q1 19/20: -30.8%). The year-on- year improvement was driven by higher revenue, better gross margin and lower ca- pacity costs. Excluding special items of DKK 2m, the EBIT margin was -8.5%.

Earnings for the period were a loss of
DKK 49m compared to a loss of DKK 106m last year.

The free cash flow was DKK -62m (Q1 19/20: DKK -206m), supported by a reduc- tion in overdue receivables and continued government support on VAT and tax pay- ments.

The cash position increased to DKK 497m from DKK 215m at the end of Q4 2019/20, reflecting the completed rights issue with DKK 357m in net proceeds."

The Harmony seems to be a hot seller... and also the BL50's. "Beolab 50 delivered the high-est growth in the Staged speaker category."

BANG & OLUFSEN REPORTS PRELIMINARY RESULTS FOR H1 2020/21 AND INCREASES THE FINANCIAL OUTLOOK FOR THE YEAR

December 15, 2020 at 1:54 PM EST
Supporting Materials:

The preliminary results for H1 2020/21 (Q2 2020/21) are as follows:

  • Revenue of DKK 1,155m, equivalent to 11% year-on-year growth in local currency (Q2: DKK 693m, equivalent to 11% year-on-year growth in local currency)
  • EBIT before special items of DKK -11m (Q2: DKK 28m)
  • Free cash flow of DKK 77m (Q2: DKK 139m)

The financial performance for the first half of the year has been better than expected due to strong strategi execution, seven successful product launches, and higher consumer demand for home entertainment products. Higher global demand for consumer electronics and scarcity on certain components impacted product supply and led to increased costs.

Based on the preliminary results for H1 2020/21 and the updated expectations for the rest of the year, the outlook for 2020/21 is adjusted as follows:

·Revenue: DKK 2.3 to 2.5bn (previously approx. DKK 2.2bn)
·EBIT before special items: DKK -50 to +25m (previously approx. DKK -100m)
·Free cash flow: DKK -50 to +100m (previously approx. DKK -200m)

The outlook is based on the assumptions set out in the Q1 2020/21 interim financial report with the following adjustments:

  • that the impact of COVID-19 in the remainder of 2020/21 will not be materially different from the first half of the year
  • that component and logistics costs continue to be at the current higher than normal level throughout the remainder of the financial year
  • that the company is able to successfully launch more than five new and upgraded products in the second half of the year

The free cash flow in the second half of the year is negatively impacted by the expected ramp-up of production to meet demand.

Due to the ongoing implications of the COVID-19 pandemic, the outlook continues to remain subject to a high level of uncertainty.

The company will announce its financial report for H1 2020/21 on 12 January 2021 as planned.

Worth bearing in mind that the half year revenues for 2019/20 were 30% down on the previous year 2018/19. So whilst the increase this time around is very welcome it is being compared with a very low base.
