My turntable has been working flawlessly up until this morning. I tried to start it normally...the record turns, but the arm doesn't activate. Please help!! Life with no vinyl is not possible!!!

Hi Sammy

If you need help, we need some more information about what kind of RX turntable.

TX 1 or TX 2 ?

Merry Christmas

It says model 5773 on bottom. Does that help?

The model is printed on the front of the deck.

Did you try with a record on the platter?

I did try. It has been working fine for years. Suddenly, platter turns, but arm doesn't activate.

All it has printed on front is Beogram Rx

Oxidated switch contacts inside, would be my guess.

So how do I open the thing up? I can't find a service manual online anywhere, and the owner manual is useless...

Take off the platter and the cartridge.
Pull the Beogram 10cm forward out over the edge of a table.
Remove two screws from below.
Swing the tonearm 45 deg inwards.
Lift the top alu surface at the front edge and pull it out a few cms. Just enough to take up the switch for the front panel and undo the plug.

When putting it back together, make sure not to trap any leads in the right side screw fitting.
