Building a Dim bulb tester, Using Sonavors (Johns) drawing
Here the box, made yesterday, tinted, today sprayed with Polyurethane, waiting for it to dry
Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.
Here the finished result, only difference is a 2 amp fuse for the volt meter, connected to the Variac, both shows 50 Volt, Lamp bypassed.
The only parts I bought new are the 2 meters and the bypass switch, the rest is from the shack. Here at 110 V, checked with my DMM

An invaluable tool for troubleshooting, without blowing fuses ever again.
Keep a 60W, 100W, 150W and a 500W bulb on hand, and always use the smallest wattage bulb which will do the job. The smaller the bulb, the lower the voltage drop there will be on the DUT.
But if you use too small a bulb, and there's a short, the bulb will blow, after being very bright for a split second! So you'll know that you should have used a bigger bulb ;-)
Anyway, on B&O stuff, I generally use the 100W and 60 W bulbs.
