Hi,

I have today a pair of BL50 connected to an Eclipse 65 with powerlink.

When listening to Deezer/DLNA Music, will the sound quality be better if I buy a Beosound Core and feed the speakers directly with Optical cable between the speakers and the Core?

Best regards

Martin

Compararing two experiences will always be very different, mostly due to the small differences in the sound pressure level and also the differences in the processing in the BV (you’d have to be very carefull there).
Also our memory of listening is very short and the danger of prefering, what is ‘supposed to sound better’ is big.

So, better....hmmmm - I am not sure, what that means. But the sound might be different!

Unless you are someone who sits down a lot and listen a lot to music, I’d go for the comfort of a connection through the BV.

However - as always with music/sound - try out things in your own room and pick what you like best.

There is a tv - and there is a BV

Hi guys,

My thoughts was IF Beosound Core with optical out directly to BL50 is a better solution regarding adioquality vs Soundcenter in the Eclipse with powerlink.

There are less D/A coversions when using a digital source directly to BL 50.

But maybe there are so little difference so it is an unnessery investment in the Core.

IF someone have tried both setup:s as described above then please give your opinion.

Best regards

Martin

Tidal sounds better streamed from iPhone to airport express with optical. Than tidal app on apple tv 4k. More clarity and better image. Even the bass in tighter.

Orderd a bluesound node 2i. Testing it this weekend.

First impression with bluesound node 2i. The phantom center is more pronounced. Wider sound image. And last but not least even clearer sounds throughout the register. The bass is clearly tighter, less boomy.

I quite liked the Bluesound interface when I tried the Node 2i.

When discussing the Node 2i, some forum peeps suggested it’s not really that good a streamer and not a reasonable partner to BL50. They suggested Lumin or Auralic. Those are about 5x the price of the Node 2i... maybe it’s worth it? Maybe not?

I get it. Just note that if you use the Toslink output, the Node 2i won’t fully render MQA. You’ll be limited to a max of 96/24. To get 192/24, you’ll have to use the RCA outputs (which will introduce an additional conversion step relative to keeping the source digital with Toslink).

Let us know what you think! I really liked the Node 2i. Bluesound is very slick.

I have BL50 and a new eclipse Gen 2, and a Beosound core but have yet to connect the core to the 50s.

I also wonder if it would make sense to use it instead of the eclipse in its many different ways of playing back music and sounds of all kinds.

Beolab 50, Beolab 8000 x 2, Beolab 4000 x 2,
BeoSound Core, BeoSound 9000, BeoSound Century,
BeoLit 15, BeoPlay A1, BeoPlay P2, BeoPlay H9 3rd Gen, BeoPlay H6, EarSet 3i,
BeoVision Eclipse Gen 2 55", BeoPlay V1-40,
BeoCom 6000 and so much else :)

Apple music via apple tv or airport, spotify via apple tv or airport, youtube music via apple tv or tidal via airport sounds good. Really good, not to much differens. But tidal sounds best on balance. Yeah it’s good and almost everybody is impressed.

But I know it could be better. Just something is missing.

Then I put on tidal via analog rca trough the bluesound node 2i. Don’t know if digital is better, don’t have the cabels for it yet.

It just put a smile on my face every time. And it’s not often it happens.

It is so much more details, and still so much less muddy noise you don’t want. And the punch in all the spectrum, wow. I’ll never go back!

Regarding the sound quality.

I have some serious issues with the sound on my 50s. In wide mode they sometimes work fully - sometimes the bass however is sooo flat it’s silly! I can’t say what triggers it. Narrow mode is usually fine and has much more sound overall which I found very contradictory to what is the point.

The eq feature is also totally disabled for some reason. I’ve reset them and done calibrations with the mic I had to pay extra for (even though it’s clearly stated on several occasions in the manual that it is included)...

Getting a bit annoyed but hopefully it’s just bad firmware and will be fixed.

Thats good to hear

And indeed the reason I bought a 3rd party streamer / DAC for my 50s.....(I bought a Linn, for the record)

Thats if my 50s ever arrive - currently been sitting at the border trying to clear UK customs, and probably will do for a while.
