So I recently got my hands on a second hand beosysten 3. I am going to use it as an sound processor only. But from what I understand you need to hook up the beosystem 3 to a screen in order to set up the speaker positions etc. so I bought an adapter (mk1 so no hdmi out) so I could connect it to my newer 4K tv, and it would also confirm that it is working. But I cannot get it to show the menu on the tv, I have an “eye” connected and beo remote 4 so I suppose it should be able to receive the signal from the controller. Does anyone know what the issue may be. Thanks for the help best regards Mio

I believe the issue is that the beosystem 3 is expecting a beovision connected to it on the serial port. Luckily (as I remember, you just need to short a couple of pins on the MONITOR connector - the middle two on the bottom 'thinner' set - the one with the 4 pins - not the 5 pins.

Doing that, then the screen should fire up. you then have to go into the service menu and set monitor autodetect off and set it up as a non-B&O monitor.

Good luck!

In this context, 'short' means simply to connect the pins together.  Best to do so using wire/solder inside the connector (solder side).

From the diagram and explanation, it appears to be pins 7 and 8 that you should connect, rather than 2 and 3.

This refers to Beosystem 2 only (shorten 2 pins).

It should work with Beosystem 3 out of the box - if you there is autodect screen/display availabe in the menu... do not remember if this has to be turn on or off. Search the forum. So you might need a BeoVision 4 screen just for the initial setup...

Any chance you can conect a monitor via DVI to the output of the Beosystem to test it first?

Thanks for the great responses! I have connected a beolink active to the beosystem and can now turn it on(via controller commands). So now the eye turns green, but I still don’t get a picture to show in the tv! It seems that shortening only would work in beosystem 2 I suppose. Any ideas how u should proceed now ? Should it not just show picture on my tv since I have it connected through the dvi
