Flatpanels
New television now shown at CES,
The G line is now called G1, and come in the same sizes 55/65/77"
It comes with a new brighter EVO panel, for HDR content
The C1 line now comes in a 83" also but nothing new in the panel, only a bit better processor.
So not much new other than the brighter panel, and that is seems that the design is the same, so B&O do not need to change the Harmony, Eclipse and Contour to fit the new panels.
Beovision Harmony 77" 2nd Gen, Beolab 5, Beolab 17, Beosound 1, Beoplay M3, Beoplay Portal, Beoplay Earset, Beoliving Intelligence
With the new panels also comes WebOS 6, which now has a full screen home menu "alowing more space for sponsorised content". As I'm not a huge fan of "sponsorized content" on a €14k TV, I hope that you can turn on your Tv directly on a source without this home screen.

I did chuckle at this: https://www.t3.com/news/lg-g1-oled-tv-revealed-with-oled-evo-next-gen-panel
Last year's G1 TV was also made to be wall-mounted, with its design focused around that. It's true this year too, but LG has also made a point of showing off a fetching stand that brings to mind B&O's minimalist and furniture-like TV designs. We like it.
They are also releasing smaller 42” OLED panels which will be interesting and sell well I think.
B&O products are V1-32, BS2, H95, E8 and an Essence remote.11-46 now replaced with Sony A90J 65”, Sony HT-A9, Sony UBP-X800M2 and Sony SRS-NS7.
Maybe B&O can sponsor their Logo so it can pretend to be a B&O TV!
Ban boring signatures!

The Alpha 9 processor that is needed for B&O integration (at least that was the story with the release of the Stage), is also featured in the new QNED-panels. So maybe we’ll have some LCD options in future too (for Stage and maybe even Contour/Eclipse)?

I'd wait a generation and move up to MicroLED. That's the future: https://www.samsung.com/us/explore/ces2021/televisions/?
Considering that numerous CES 2021 YouTube clips are referring to LG as "luxury TV brand" to separate out from TCL, etc., so is "sponsored content" detracting from the "luxury" experience?
One of the articles I read wrote that WebOS6.0 is also a distraction in that prior versions just 'happen in the background' and the new one is about being in the foreground. Makes you wonder if being in the background is a better experience.
Be interesting to see in time if sponsored content can be removed and how customisable the UI is to the customer.
I couldn't see when these panels will come to market? It normally happens way later in the year from memory after CES announcements, product reviews, etc.
Aussie Michael: I couldn't see when these panels will come to market? It normally happens way later in the year from memory after CES announcements, product reviews, etc.
The CX and GX were announced same time last year and I bought mine in late March 2020 - was one of the first to hit the UK.
No way will B&O switch to these new panels any time soon. That's not how they operate. Eclipse v1 used the same panel for 3 years, so expect the Eclipse v2 to use the GX for 'some time yet'.
I expect B&O to quickly switch to G1 panels as it’s physically identical to the GX. The only thing that may delay the release is if the B&O app has to be updated. Otherwise the context is completely different as for the Eclipse V1 : now B&O sells you a completely separated set with a LG TV with a separated packaging and price tag on your bill, and as I understand it’s the dealers that purchase the OLED panels directly from LG, so they can switch whenever they want to (no stock of GX panels at B&O).
And to add to this « quick adoption theory », I just tried to find a LG 65G9 from a TV store with brick and mortar shops here in France (opposed to online shops with clearance products) and it’s not available anywhere.
So even if B&O did want to continue selling GX panels with its TVs, I’m quite sure they won’t be able to do that due to EOL at LG.
B&O has some supply arrangements with LG though, in the Netherlands the 48" CX is very hard to come by and still retails at the introduction list price (1.699). B&O dealers have a guaranteed number of panels and don't have the supply issues normal high street shops have with this panel.

Michael:Why? It’s not custom at all. My eclipse v2 was sourced from both a super market and B&O from what I can tell from the shipping labels on the boxes.
You're assuming the new panel will match the design of the bottom fake panel under the sound center. And why on earth would someone swap a brand new 2020 GX for this panel? We're going mad if we're even debating this as an option. It's a relatively minor upgrade.

Michael: What is fake?
What is fake?
The glass part underneath the Eclipse sound center which is designed to match the panel above, so it looks seamless?

Correct, they really dont have a choice.
The Eclipse V1 was special panels that B&O bought in stock, this is not the case anymore.

They just talked about this in their webcast with the new financiel report.
With Contour they have secured a large amount of LG CX, directly from LG, so they could have a succesful launch.
The bought units will be sold out in the first half of this year though.
A special case that is not going to be repeated if everything goes as planned.

There is no need to assume otherwise, it looks exactly the same, both the G1 and C1 compared to GX and CX.
And we are not talking about upgrading, but what the dealers are selling and it would be strange if it is not going to be the new panels, else every dealer had to buy panels for a year?
And about upgrading, it looks like a much bigger step from the GX to G1 than C7 to CX which many on the forum was talking about. That said I am not going to change, the picture in HDR is bright enough for me.

I am intending to buy 65" Eclipse 2, but am really in trouble with that new G1 arriving:
- Is it really a major upgrade (brighter)?
- What will it cost?
- When is it available?
If someone really knows...

Brighter, yes if we assume they are telling the truth, And I guess they do.
When is this relevant, when you see HDR content only. Is the current gen. plenty bright, yes IMO.
Cost, your guess is as good as mine, but same price the GX was in summer 2020.
First units maybe in late May/June, for full price.
November Black Friday, may be the first price adjustment.
If 2021 is as every other year.
Thanks a lot for this interesting comment, Emil.
My current consumption is "standard TV" from my Digibox: motor racing, musical shows, ...
I make the conclusion that it is not worth waiting. However, with delivery issues on electronics market, I do not know when my 65" could be delivered...
Have a nice day

Especially in daylight. It can be run brighter but mainly looks good in evenings. So I get that a brighter panel can be better. I think the cost will be the same. If you can wait then just wait. No reason not to.

Hallo Michael,
If you take the ISF picture mode, the brightness will only be improved in HDR, and an example of that would be in Harry Potter a Light from a light pole would be brighter not the picture overall.
The screen shows the correct colors and here brightness cannot go up and down as you please.
But there is a Day/night ISF setting to compensate for this. I always have it in ISF Dark.
Your OLED can have a brighter picture than your AVANT, just choose another picture mode, the picture however will not be correct.
But if that make it possible for you to see in daylight it could be a good trade off.
steve1977:Does anyone know what LG panels / sizes are available for horizon, eclipse and contour? And which of them may see a 2021 upgrade based on what we’ve seen at ces? Are all three “upgradeable” and can they even upgrade in size?
So no details of measurements have been said,
But I see no reason why not all 3 model series can use the new panels.
It is only the Harmony that can use 3 sizes 65/77/88
As the new 83" is going to be a C series, I do not think Harmony will adopt this size.
Does someone know if they will really use G1 for Harmony or Eclipse 55/65/77? My dealer told me that B&O will just integrate an updated GX version, not the G1 Evo.
We do not know the exact measurements yet.
But there will not be an updated GX panel, or there will and it is called G1
I would be surprised if they do not use the G1.
As already discussed here, B&O does not have the volumes to ask for a specific screen, they will be "forced" to take the G1.
But as there is a chip shortage, I do not expect the new panels to be on time this year (usually around may). I'm waiting for the new LG HU810P/AU810P beamers but they have already been delayed for Europe. I expect the same for TVs.

It was similar for the GX launch last year. I picked up one of the first units in to the UK around early May 2020 as I was told there wouldn't be any more for another 3 weeks. Was scarce at launch. C1 will definitely be even harder to get hold of until almost Q3.
Hi,Any idea of the date G1 panels will be available on Eclipse gen 2 65" in Europe?
Yes, the G1 OLED evo is available both in 65" Eclipse and 65" Harmony. In 77" Harmony, you can also choose the Z9 (or the G1).
Will B&O make a Harmony to accompany a 55” screen size? I am guessing not but if they did, or do, I am ready to buy one. Anyone know?
The Beonic Man: Will B&O make a Harmony to accompany a 55” screen size? I am guessing not but if they did, or do, I am ready to buy one. Anyone know?
The Speaker Boxes fit a 65", and the covers can then be 65" or bigger, to fit 77" and 88"
So they would not be able to make a 55" in the current version.
And the sales of bigger screens is the place to be.
So I would guess that it is not going to happen, ever.
If I were you I would consider a 65"
Thanks Emil. A 65” would just look to large and overpowering in my lounge I think. I could risk it but I think it would be overkill and design and minimalism is far more important to me. You want a home to flow, to work, to have good energy etc; not to be drawn straight to a large dominating tv that takes away from everything else.
