hi

I discovered recently a deterioration in the sound quality of my Beolab6000,  getting an inner look at the speakers, i noticed a high deterioration in the foaming of the 4 speakers?

I don't know what might have caused this , can't believe this might happen to a relatively very expensive speakers at that time in just less than 10 years !!

is that really a common problem ? I don't wanna go hanging around with B&O guys.. anyone can advise me where can i get those foams on the internet ?

Thnx guys

They are very thin rubber which cracks with age.

There are foam rings for sale on ebay but they are not satisfactory, in my opinion.

The only real way of doing the job is to buy replacement drivers from B&O. Expensive but they restore the original sound quality!

If i can remember it was 200 euro for 4 bass units.

It's very easy to do it yourself.

Add another 250 and with some luck you can get another pair of Beolabs 6000!

Ok, add another 20 + 20 euro and you'll have a perfect working 2 pairs of Beolab 6000!

Can you follow this?

How do they sound and where did you buy the rings, Leslie? I'm planning to refoam my pair in the near future.

Bought rubber surrounds at Goodhifi.

To be honest, I have 3 pairs that have been refoamed so I cannot compare to the original ones.

Comparing to my Penta's and Beolab flatpanels? HmmmHmm

You gonna do the refoaming yourself Dennis? Not that difficult you know.

Yes I am - Until now have I refoamed a pair of MS150s, a pair of MS150.2s (Recapped as well) and a pair of Dali speakers - All with rings from Good Hifi. My Pentas are on the bench right now, but I haven't been working on them for quite some time as I'm busy with school and work.
