Went to turn the TV on this morning but nothing is happening. Tried, swapping the HDMI cable to my Laptop and still nothing. The green light comes on but there's no picture or sound and then it goes off after a little bit.
I know that these TVs are getting old now but this is horribly disappointing and I was wondering if this is a common/fixable fault that's emerging as they age? I just finished swapping out capacitors in my old BV32 so I'm ok with repair projects and electronics but the fact that the green light comes on suggests it's not just capacitors on the power board.
Wow. So today I went to unplug the cables, take it downstairs and have a look inside. Randomly I thought, "let's plug it in again and see if turning it off and on works" It worked! Turning things off and on at the mains sometimes works!
I have no idea what was up or if anything is even wrong with it but the kids are now watching a film which means I can work on a different project instead (fixing up an old Apple computer I found).
I couldn't find a service manual for i so I'm wondering if these are still serviceable products? Ie if it was damaged and I phoned round a few dealers, would one of them be able to open it up, run a diagnostic and order a replacement board? A repair bill for 1000 or something is much preferable to 15k on a new set, especially as I was hoping this was a year when I buy a new car rather than new AV equipment
