I purchased a MINT beocentre 2200 last night and after getting it home and setting it up I played a few lp's.  I then played a cassette tape but after trying to play a second cassette tape the function is no longer working.

The tape light will light up but it is like the tape mechanism does not want to work?

Bit stuck now.....I have seen on this forum that sometimes the belts can go, and that Dillen can supply them but i dont know if that is the problem.

Any help greatly appreciated.

If the mechanism clicks & fails to start then it is 99% likely to be the belts.

The tape mechanism locks into the tape but fails to turn when play is pressed.

I have seen someone called Dillen on here that is able to get hold of the belts, do you know if he still can or where i can get some from?

Thanks for replying.

Sounds like a belt problem, I agree.
I can still supply belts.

Hi, I'm new to the site but have the same cassette tape belt problem and need replacements. I have looked on the web and found eBay sellers proporting to sell the correct belts but caveat their sales by saying that they may not fit.....which is a useless statement and 'get-out' clause allowing them not to refund in full.

Although by no means the best B&O system out there the Beocentre 2200 was a good all-in-one and streets ahead of the competition at the time and by far the sexiest looking!

I also have a Beocord 2000 tape deck in great working order but fear that the belts may go at any time due to its age. I think (from looking on web sites) that these are basically the same cassette tape unit, so would like to repair the existing 2200 (Type 2427) and have spares ready for the 2000 (Type 2922). Where is the best place to get the genuine belt kits from?

By far Martin is your best place to go.

When I got my original white Beocord 9000 it had new belts installed. As with all B&O I had it go to Martin for a look ower and it turned out the belts were the wrong size! In fact nearly killed the motor by being to thick! He saved the motor and put on the right type of belts. The 9000 still works great and fast forward/rewind is still fast for that type of Becord.

Thanks Friedmett, glad to hear your 9000 survived, I can't wait to get stuck in, I love being able to get good things working again especial with original parts. Do you  have an address for 'Martin'.... or web site?

He has allready answered here so click on Dillen and you will be able to email or other contact options.

Martin does not have original NOS B&O brand of belts but especially have them made/found for those induvidial B&O products that needs them.

Jacko953.

It would be highly appreciatd if you post the progress of this matter , when you get the belts.

I have a 2200  in storage waiting for my work that also have this issue, and I asume belt matter.
I have new belts and will get to it after other prioritated  machines

It could be valuable to hear how it  progress.

My re-capped M75 are my precious diamonds.

I have ordered two sets from Dillen but I am still awaiting their arrival so I will post again once I have fitted them....seems pretty straightforward enough......and happy that I have a spare set for the Beocord 2000 too.

UPDATE: Received two sets of belts and have fitted one set on the 2200. The belt sets came with full fitting instructions (photos and text explanations) really quite straightforward .... the only problem seems to be removing the congealed, sticky (I mean REALLY gooey) black tar that used to be the belts inside, I used some cotton buds and Braun shaver cleaning fluid which worked a treat, but make sure that you get it all off and sparkly clean before fitting the replacement belts .... easier than I anticipated. Good luck to all who try ..... very satisfied that I did it myself!

Hi Martin, I cleaned the black zombie rubber stuff and replaced the three belts on my Beocenter 2200 tape drive. I also cleand the heads, the thrust roller and the rubber clutches. Playback and rewind works fine now. With forwarding the tape the mechanism has problems and get stocked itermittent. I guess the rubber of the clutches got hard over the years and do no longer provide the required torque. Do you know any one who still can provide replacement parts? 2x Supply Reel 22034 2726002 and 1x Clutch 22060 2794098 - optionally 1x Thrust Roller 22010 2794099 and 1x Clutch 22061 275000? Thanks and kind regards, Greg
