Hi guys,

As I already have these suckers desoldered for deep cleaning, I thought I might as well get them gold plated. I don't have any equipment to do this myself, so I'm in contact with a company in Stockholm who can do this for about 150-200€.

They do however want to know what metals B&O used for these 3 components (leaf, bracket and pin). Do any of you know?

I noticed that some of the leaves have been polished/ground before. There are some deeper scratches on it. If I will not going for the gold plating, is there a risk that the B&O plating layer (if any) might be too thin, risking bad connection?

I appreciate your thought and ideas.

Hi

I have gold plated these parts myself using a kit purchased from ebay...I think it was ebay....and although it was a bit involved i found it fairly easy, and considerably cheaper than your quote.

Hi Craig,

Thanks for input. I've seen those kits online as well, but I lack the knowledge of how to do it, is not too found of the toxic liquids that has to be recycled somehow, and I also don't want to risk getting too thin (or insufficient for that matter) gold plating.

Even if I would do it myself, I still would need to know what these switch components are made of...

On my original question, I even contacted B&O, but they couldn't help me (or wouldn't be bothered?).

So my questions remains, unfortunately.
