Hi all,

I have a Beogram 4002 which I very much enjoy. However the sound of it was a bit muffled and I was adviced on this forum to get a new stylus (again, thanks for the extensive answers!).

I got a restored MMC 20CL from FJS' Tonabnehmer Service, with a Shibata diamond and alu cantilever. I just installed it and compared it to the presumably worn out 20EN. The 20CL does sound better, although I am not blown away. There is more detail which is great, however the sound is also a bit a bit less loud (have to put the volume up 3 clicks to get the same level as with the 20EN) and has a bit less bass.

I have taken a look with a simple small lens and it occurs to me as if the 20CL with the Shibata diamond is less 'pointy', like it has not been sharpened totally. See below for pictures. The 20EN still is a bit pointy. Could it be that the 20CL isn't cut perfectly?

Or am I overreacting and it this a matter of putting hours into the new needle so it will get worn in, and then have better base etc?

Thanks in advance for your advice!
