Since there are a few threads about this, but with different information, I would like to have your input on this.
I have a BM6500 which had a totally dead battery. No voltage what so ever. FM frequency was off by 0.4mhz when using BL7000.
So I replaced the battery, and run testmode 5, which tests ROM/RAM, all was fine. Ran testmode 7 to set default values, all also was fine.
But, I am a bit confused as to testmode 16(erase AM/FM offset in NV-RAM. In the Beomaster 7000 service manual, it is described that if changing the NV-RAM IC, testmode 16 and 7 should be run in that order, but this is not written in the 6500 manual.
I was wondering if "loss of battery" could be the "same" as NV-RAM IC change, and so the AM/FM offset should be cleared before running the default settings (7) testmode.
And is this the same for BM6500/7000.
The FM display indication is correct after having set that, so this is also ok now.
But, what is actually the AM/FM offset ? And is it something that normally should be set with special measuring instruments, or is it something that the Beomaster sets automatically after the 16 and 7 testmodes ?

I don’t know the answer - but perhaps the difference in the 6500/7000 documentation relates to the presence of an RDS chip in the 7000. I recall the 6500 didn’t have one as standard (but I may be wrong)?
Settings in NV-Ram aren't cleared when you replace the battery.The test procedures from the BM7000 a bit different compared to the BM6500. The BM7000 has a complete different processorboard.The right way is to change the backup battery, then reset the master with the option 7.
After that you preform the display AM/FM setting procedure for setting the right frequency when your master displays the wrong frequency when you do a search and find a known station.

Good to know, then my hunch was correct.
I did the 7 and then the frequency display procedure. It all seems to work perfectly now :)
