I realized many on this forum are using Plex to manage their audio library and stream to our beloved B&O devices.

Wanted to look for experiences how to have Plex pick up all artist art and album covers that are embedded in our music files or placed alongside as sidecar (folder.jpg)?

If more of you struggle with this, it would be great if you can help pile onto the many threads on the Plex forums. For example the one below:

As posted in the other thread, I have no issues with PLEX managing my local metadata.

I manage my album covers, embedded in the tracks, as well as other metadata with tools such as SongKong or Metadatics (OSX).

PLEX properly read and expose them, but also offers the possibility of choosing the ones collected by PLEX.

Whenever a cover or other information is missing, yes it may happen, a targeted or global metadata refresh solves it immediately.

BS Moment, BS Core, BG 4002, BC 4500, BS1, BL18, BL19, BL8000 + RCV1, A6, M5, M3, A1, P6 (tks Botty), H5, TR1

A refresh indeed solves it. Depending on the size of your library, this can be an issue or not. As you can see on the plex forums, there are dozens of threads complaining about the library being flakey. It may just impact 2% of all albums, but that’s a lot of manual work if you have a lot of albums.

Did you get plex to pick up folder.jpg for artists? This also seems to be broken.

Nope, as mentioned earlier I leverage SongKong / Metadatics to insert the best cover images I can find and I let PLEX manage the artist image.

Honestly, the number of issues I have had compared ton the number of tracks manges is not significant at all. I’ll have a look at the reported issues, but if i have not been there yet it means that I never had the need for.
