It has been 40 years since I owned B&O. Just bought a Beogram 1700 turntable for my daughter. Trying to connect to speakers. Do I need a receiver to do so or can I connect directly to speakers. No user manual but online the manual does not show the cables and what goes where.

You need an amplifier with a phono input with built-in RIAA.
