Hello
I just become a proud owner of a beosound 5 encore, currently i am pairing it with bl3s. My idea is to make a wireless network connection to my sky router (made by Netgear). Although I have tried nearly every possible way : auto wireless, WPS, manual wireless connection, I still can not get bs5e to find my router. I am connecting bs5e to a USB stick for temporary use.
Then I realized the bs5e just has 5Hz inbuilt wifi, and i am not sure whether my sky router could be capable of working with the bs5e. Btw, my sky router is quite old, about 4,5 years. Could this be the problem? If it is my router that cause the problem, can the wired connection method still work though my old router?
Furthermore, how can I make the famous MOTS working? Do i need to do anything such as press some button to make MOTS start to analyze my entire music collection? Btw, I assume MOTS work with either NAS or Hard drive stored musics, am I right?
Also, sometime my bs5e has problem to play 'next song", whatever it is in cover, artist or album, I could not press next to play next song, is it because the MOTS has not analyzed the entire music collection yet?
Lastly, can someone tell me whether bs5e can display song names in foreign languages ( such as Japanese or Chinese), so far, foreign languages can not displayed in my bs5e, would internet connection or software upgrade can help?
Hi Mivvy,
Congratulations on your purchase and what a great combination with the BL3's. I hope you did purchase both the white BS5e and the white BL3s.
When I had mine, I did set it up via an Apple TIme Capsule and that is both 5GH and 2.4, however even though I did set up the wireless, it did not always connect, but then again, I decided on a wired connection.
I purchased a netgear Power over Ethernet and found that to be successful. In my house I have a mixture of Ethernet, wireless and PoE.
Because the BS5e is already required to be plugged in to the power, there is no issue with running PoE on a powerboard - at least I haven't had any issues.
It took probably a good couple of days for MOTS to be working and it calculates in the background once it is in standby. You will see it on the screen to the left of the wheel it will light up red - and you'll notice when you wake it from standby in the bottom left it says MOTS suspended (I think... it's been a while since I had mine).
MOTS works via calculating on your NAS or Stored Hard drive that you set it up to. If you run PoE, it will be quicker.
All my music is on my NAS. When I first got the BS5e it wouldn't find my NAS drive so I called up the dealer and they told me to press a key combination to get in to a different mode and then you find your NAS drive in one of the settings.
Your issue with next song might be because you're album or artist. But if it plays something completely different , that's MOTS - it's finding More Of the Same.
I am sorry however I can't advise on the foreign languages, but i'm quite sure it should be able to.
Cheers from Oz
Michael.
Thanks for your reply, and yes, the bs5e works great with bl3s. From your reply, the problem is my old router, I will properly get a athernet cable to make a wired network connection then.
For next song issue, I have realised every track i choose fom artist, album is automaticly added to playing queue.I also found when mots is disabled, If I just select one track from an album, the encore just play that song, it won't play next song in the album. If mots is on, the encore could found many similar tracks to the selected one. Has everyone' s encore worked the same way as mine?
It's the normal behaviour. If you select an album (press go directly when you see the album cover), it will play the album in the correct order. If you go further and select a song (the first song from the album for instance, so that you press left one time after seeing the cover and then go), MOST will decide what is the next song to be played.

Thanks mbee, that is all I want to know. Maybe I did not press 'go' button directly after I see the album cover, this is why the encore can't play next song. Btw, do you have any idea whether the encore can display track, album or artist name in foreign languages such as Japanese or Chinese? I believe it should be, but currently, it display 'funny symbols', can b&o dealers do something about it? Or can the encore display foreign languages correctly after a software upgrade when I have Internet connection?
thanks
I sometimes get strange symbols on tags that I didn't edit myself... If I edit with iTunes (AAC) or Tag (Flac), my Mac usually also shows strange symbols. I retype them correctly, and it works (never done with Chinese, but works with French accents, islandic text and other...)
So just check that your files are tagged correctly.
Hi knee, hope you can help me here, I have problems with Internet connection now. I plug both bs5eand NAS to my sky router through ethernet cables. The NAS is fine, as I can upload musics to NAS through my mac. But I am not sure wether the encore has Internet connection or not. In the "network info", it shows: network connection yes, dhcp enabled, and ip address, subnet mask are all shown. However, in " mode", the n music doesn't appear, only radio, a aux are shown, and I press radio to see whether Internet radio works, it shows genres, languages, countries..., but nothing appears while I sellect either of them. And I also tried to update software, it says connection to server failed.
I am really confused, whether my encore in online or not, why it doesn't show n music and no Internet radio can be chosen.
Hi Peter,
B&o dealer did give me a pin code, which I have entered while set up. Do you mean I also need to register online? The beosound 5 encore's user guide isn't helpful. I will check beo connect software.
After play with my encore for a few hours, I have had connect it to Internet, so the Internet radio function is working. However, my encore doesn't show N music function in mode. And my encore also shows: network connection yes, dhcp enabled, and IP address, subnet mask are all shown. However, in " mode", the N music doesn't appear, only radio, a aux and amem are shown. I am using western digital my book live NAS, it has inbuilt twonky server, and I have enabled twonky in NAS, and store musics in flac format in correct folder in NAS through mac. Do you know what the problem might be? How can I connect encore to nas?

Hi peter
Mime is beosound5 encore, I have checked b&o website, the beoconnect is for beosound5. And I checked my encore' service setting, there is no " music storage" option. And in mode, the N. music doesn't show as well. However, Internet radio is working, some believe my encore is online. I will call my dealer to see where is wrong.
Thanks
My encore is now in 100% working order. After I restart encore,MIT finds my NAS server. Now, everything is fine. Thanks for all you help, you are very kind.
