This is so sad, it wouldn't be that hard do issue a software update to retrofit old products to the new radio platform. It's not that It would consume a lot more ram or cpu so the hardware should be enough (probably) for the systems that already supports TuneIn.
The service is available now on the Level and Balance.
Ah, you know... A little B&O here, a little there

Does anyone know if and how the B&O radio service and TuneIn integrates with each other? Is it possible to have a seamless experience with like a Stage (who uses TuneIn) and a Level in regards to how the Beoremote One behaves?
Not yet...
Some rumour say that the Radio service it will be launched for old productions also. The main reason it because BBC is removed from TuneIn. And rumour says it should be soon.

I really hope they do this since my favorite station here in the US left TuneIn a couple years ago. I barely listen to my bedroom system since it went away as I can't find another local station on TuneIn to my liking. Many stations left because they consolidated into a conglomerate, and, I assume, the conglomerate wants to harvest the usage data for itself... or maybe there are marketing people worried about TuneIn "diluting" the station's brand. Companies with big US presence (i.e. Sonos) added this service (radio.com) to their integration, but no such help from the Danes. I guess with internet radio there's no real intermediary (B&O is just giving us a catalog to easily find the stations) so the stations also keep their usage data... or are fully in control of their brand (so no diluting).
That would be highly appreciated if B&o also integrate old products with the new service.
How does the new radio service work, does it show up in the B&o app like TuneIn radio stations or does it look different? And are you able to see the radio stations on the Beoremote one LCD screen?
The stations show up in the B&O app similar to TuneIns, except it's at the individual product level, rather than the "home" level. That is, you need to click into the Level device in the app, then you can see Radio Favorites and "Browse" where you have another screen where you can browse/search stations to play, add to your Favorites list and assign to the my buttons on the device.
I haven't tried the Beoremote One.
I am really very interested if Calm Radio could be integrated for native streaming in that B&O Radio? So that you can save one Calm Radio "station" on one preset button, the second one on the next etc... plus, to be able to sign in within B&O app as we did with TuneIn before. That would be a dream come true, not having to airplay from the mobile phone...
Thank you for describing how is works in the app.
There are ~10 Calm Radio stations available, each with a different genre. I've checked a dozen or so stations, and the radio station list on the Level is the same as the BS5 Net.Radio.
You can assign any station to one of the buttons. Then just pressing the button starts the station on the Level (very similar to an old fashioned FM radio). The stations do not seem to be integrated with GVA. If you start playing using a button, GVA can change the volume, but if you tell it to stop playing, it when tell you nothing is playing and will continue to play. Also, if you tell it to play a station, it will play it from TuneIn or Radio.com or whatever other services Chromecast might support. Not a big deal to me, but it seems worth mentioning.
The Beoremote one works the same as TuneIn on other devices - select "Radio" as a source, then scroll through and select from your Favorites list.

The problem here is Entercom, the massive media conglomerate who owns 235 radio stations and radio.com. They wanted to drive more traffic to their own stations, and gambled that people would move from using the TuneIn app to the Radio.com app on their phone, and therefore browse and acess only their own stations. More here.

What radio station are you unable to stream? I've been able to solve this my two different stations in two different ways.
The Radio.com station that stopped working (KNDD Seattle) I was able to add back in to my TuneIn using the custom URL function in the app. This was very straightforward, and took just a few minutes. I'm happy to help you with this if you tell me the station.
The other station that stopped working (KNKX Seattle-Tacoma) still appears in my playlist, but they changed their streaming hardware and the B&O equipment no longer works with it. This was trickier to solve, but I was able to set up a Raspberry Pi to convert and re-stream the station, so I can listen to this one just as well. If you're at all computer savvy I'd also be happy to walk you through the relatively straightforward process.

* Yes, really! 🤦♂️
Hi laser - thanks for the info. The station in question is wrxt. I found the place in the TuneIn app to add the custom URL, but all the Urls I've tried to use have failed, but maybe I'm doing something wrong.
I did find a workaround for GVA devices. I can just tell Google to play the station, and it will play it from Radio.com. It would be nice to get it to work with TuneIn so I can access it from my older products.
I'm not sure if I'm quite ready to step up to a raspberry pi solution, but thanks for the idea. Is there anything that little device cannot do?
Hi Stan,
I was able to find the two following URLs for WXRT FM Chicago:
I'm not at home to test it my B&O gear at the moment, but all three links work on my PC using VLC so at least one should work on your legacy B&O equipment. I would start with the first mp3 link and work your way down further if needed.
For anyone else who needs to find the streaming URL of a radio.com station, there are some instructions here on the basics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3Es00azAT4
There are a few other techniques to find the stream, so if the first video doesn't work try another. Anyone having trouble can send me a DM and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks Laseralex and CB. I have WXRT now playing on my BS2 (first gen). Woot!..
I like to sometimes get a little local weather and news sprinkled in with my music.. especially when I wake up in the morning. This station also sometimes does a better job with exposing me to new music than the streaming services. Lately Spotify seems to be more about deeper tracks from artists with which I'm already familiar.

Oops. Wrong station. WXRT Chicago, not WRXT Lynchburg. Your heart was in the right place

I'm so glad to hear this good news. :)
When my favorite station was missing from my bedroom for a year it was a little annoying. Only after I got it up and running again this way did I realize how much I had missed waking up to that particular station. I'm glad this is working for you again. :)
I can add the customer url to tune in. its not clear how I access from tunein app on essence mk II. I see my favorites but not the custom URL
apologies I found the new url.
