How is the A3 "useless?"
So that will be normal proceed if B&O further create such products and will subject to Change.........

ok - but ,its still useless
Gatex:ok - but ,its still useless
Thanks for clearing that up!
I don't think the A3 is useless, especially if you use your iPad for watching movies or videos or listening to music. The reason this is on sale is that it doesn't support the new Apple interface plug, if you notice the one that does support the new plug is still full price.

I'm afraid I'm recovering from the BeoVirus.

Is there an A3 that takes the lightning connector?
I thought that they were all with the old connector, with a mix of full price and half price offers (presumably because some dealers bought at the old wholesale price which was higher than the 50% off price so B&O still have the original full price listed on line as the official price.)
Graham
EDIT
Following the first post link they've presumably decided that any dealers who bought at the original wholesale price have enough time to move their stock and the official price is now 50% off too!
As long as I can remember, the A3 is only available with covers for iPad 1 and iPad 2, nothing for the "fat" iPad 3 and 4...
And then comes the problem of the Lightning connector.
So count me on the Useless wagon (and it was the same price as an iPad!! Who would buy something that he is totally sure will not be compatible with future (present now...) devices??)
diisign.com
I get it now!
It is useless ... sort of like buying a raw egg peeler -if you did not have any raw eggs.
ɓʋɾɑɳɫɘɮ: I get it now! It is useless ... sort of like buying a raw egg peeler -if you did not have any raw eggs.
Or the peeler can't cope with those new square eggs that the supermarkets find they can pack into a smaller space.

Small correction regarding the iPad 3:
It fits my iPad 3 with the 30 pin connector.
Therefore and for some other reasons I bought it.
It is my kitchen radio, also it may be used in smaller groups as music player.
I think it may have been a hard time for dealers to explain, why quite a few customers had to pay the full price only a few weeks ago. Last summer I considered a purchase too. But I was lucky that it was not a priority to me. Sometimes the late bird catches the fatter worm.
Gatex: i wrote in the "worst bno product" that the a3 ist the most useless product, new numbers say , nobody is gonna buy these ,
Agreed. IMHO... I think the people on Top at B&O can sometimes be a little dim and sometimes not with the best taste too. Entering the China post boom.... Erm..... Yeah...
And obviously B&O need some local Chinese talent to teach them a thing or two about Chinese consumerism patterns... or....
It may just be me, and I know my mate Jaff likes his, but I just dont get the whole concept of the A3, or for that matter, phones covers etc. Whats the point of being the thinnest anything for folk to then wrap a books thickness around it!! Someone, whose name escapes me, recently wittered on about how much he'd spent on a leather case for his phone......what is the point?!!!! Sometimes I despair, I really do!
Ban boring signatures!

Better sound. Basic iPad sound is awful.
Creates a portable stand-up version of the iPad (but be careful not to tip it over!)
More portable dock system as opposed to Beosound 8 dock, and choice of portrait or landscape format.
Extends battery running: exhausts A3 battery before running down the iPad.
Downside: awkward gasket to remove before you can transfer the iPad to anything else.
But for individual private use you might be just as well to use the iPad on its own with B&O headphones!
vikinger:Downside: awkward gasket to remove before you can transfer the iPad to anything else.
Totally! That's what put me off from making the purchase!
And check this out! I am not saying that I like the design but look at how versatile this product is.

Again I have to stress the new CEO at B&O not the smartest....
Beosound 8 moved to BeoPlay? BeoPlay = affordable version of B&O? You see any electronic manufacturer doing that? Moving a product from the core brand and to a so called sister brand that doesn't really has its own website or stores? Nuts! It undermines B&O branding big time.
Who likes to buy something that makes them feel second best?
Let's see how many people are buying the A9. As much as I am enjoying it, IMHO the whole BeoPlay concept must be from a person who is not a big consumerist himself. And feels a little elitist.... I mean is that even hip? I bought the A9 purely from a design and sound quality perspective and I am not a person who is exactly susceptible by marketing but what about for most people?
Exactly which luxury brand does that?
Anyway in case you guys (people who followed my previous thread) are wondering I have yet to submit my designs on the A9 add-ons yet... Been busy with other stuff... Probably tomorrow. We'll see.. Posted designs on forum = rejected.
Wow, so many words, and just so wrong in almost every damn sentence.
I'm surprised that there isn't more appreciation for the A3. It's one of my favorite new products. The fact that it isn't compatible with iPad 4 doesn't bother me. Many people tend to upgrade and it's an ideal place to put your old unit.
Here in the US most television providers offer a free app that allows you to watch live TV on your portable devices. This means that my iPad 3 is a tiny HDTV with better sound than most of what's on the shelf at Best Buy. I use mine almost every day to watch news in the bathroom while I get ready for the day or in my basement workshop while I work on the house.
They marketed it as a sort of swiss-army knife of a dock and that lead to a murky idea of what it really is. If you only have one iPad then it's not the best idea for a sound system, but if you have an extra or two floating around as many Apple users do it makes an ideal home for it!
Oh well.
I also think of buying it for my old iPad, to use it in my bathroom.
Or is the Beolit 12 a better buy for this purpose?
With the A3 I don't have to go to my computer to stream my music. But what is the sound quality of the A3 compared to the Beolit 12?
Electrified: Wow, so many words, and just so wrong in almost every damn sentence.
Oh well.. I know they do have a secondary website for the Beoplay. But the fact that it is not an entirely a separate entity from B&O the core brand just makes it feel cheap. I mean if they are going to create a sister brand at least have the decency to create a whole new range of products for that brand itself otherwise it just reaks of desperation. A luxury brand must never show signs of weakness.
I wonder why isn't LVMH making its move on B&O yet? I mean LVMH has practically every luxury brand under its umbrella.... If I were Bernard Arnault I will buy.... Maybe the time hasn't come yet... Who knows? B&O isn't exactly expensive.... It's turnover can't even compare to one its skincare brands. Plus who knows next time bags might need to have speakers too. lol... And having aluminum expert at helm sure will even help create more innovative fashion ,cosmetics, luxury goods.
More nonsense.
...and there goes another thread. Thanks.

tournedos: ...and there goes another thread. Thanks.
Right!!
I love my A3. I use it as a fourth wireless link TV, for the Beolink app, control the xhome automation ipad app, listen to N.Radio via beoplayer in the sportsroom ......It just is what it is sold for: a great sounding ipad extension.
And yes, sure, it is useless...........if you have no ipad.......
Stefan
And it even works a digital picture frame!
vikinger: But for individual private use you might be just as well to use the iPad on its own with B&O headphones!
..................and that's really the point! It's not a "multi-user movie watching experience", and so, if you're watching it on your own, please have some consideration and keep the sound to yourself!!

With the greatest respect, can I ask one last time, on behalf of the general Beoworld readership, if you must reply to a post, any post, please try to refrain from mentioning any other brand or umbrella company of brands .................. it really, really is particularly wearisome. By all means please post your objective or even subjective views and opinions on any B&O product but please try not to reduce it to a list of other brands - I'm not sure I can take anymore!
If you don't like the A3 then please say so and why, that's all, we don'y need to know about skincare or Bernie whatsisface........... honestly we don't care!!!
By all means speak here about B&O - if you want to discuss other stuff, please start a new thread where folks can choose to ignore it, or post on the other brand's websites about your views on B&O, I'm sure they will be equally enthralled!
Please.
Hehe, yeah, that was a good laugh for me as well, Puncher!
Anyway, I just realised that something like this is pretty good for watching telly or (or a movie, or even Youtube), while writing or something, and you don't want to wear headphones, or your desk is somewhere where you don't have a telly.
Now, I'm never buying anything Apple again, but perhaps one day something similar will come along which doesn't tie you into a single manufacturer and with an industri standard plug.

Trip has got it right. Why buy some cr@p Kikoniko mini tv -when I could have this?
I love mine, buying just as I was wrapping up a kitchen redo.
It turned out to be perfect in white on top of solid white counter-tops. Very monolithic.
Using my TWC app, I can watch SpongeBob while prepping Sushi.

I can see why you say that but tell me again when you're still doing it in a years time! It sounds like one of those things you do because you can with this new wonder gizmo, but the fascination fades........................

Oh, I suppose when that happens -I'll be forced into hacking it into a speaker dock.
Sounds like a fun project! Heck, I might even hotglue a clock on it while I'm at it.

You might have compatibility issues, because, as you know, "Apple runs on mac"
The A3 is useless to anyone who doesn't own an 'old' iPad...
It can't be used with the current - and certainly not with future iPads. That's why the whole concept was a mistake from the beginning. Why make a device that's so tied up on one single gadget from another manufacturer?A small company like B&O can not afford to make a new A3 everytime Apple makes a new iPad.Thats why B&O has ceased production of the A3 -and there will be no successor (according another thread). Well -it's nice that the owners of the A3 love their device -that's the way it should be...- would be a real bummer to buy somethng and regret it...
But the future is not to be tied up to one single company. And the latest products from B&O can be used with other tablets and smartphones than those from Apple I know that Apple owners hate the fact that there are more Android users in the world than Apple owners. But you better learn to live with it
tobeyone:Hmmm, well I bought one half price my my spare iPad and am pretty happy with it for the money. Probably would not have paid full price. Mike

Beosound Stage, Beovision 8-40, Beolit 20, Beosound Explore.

Okay... Makes perfect sense since it is a B&O forum.
Then again people here enjoy paralleling B&O with Apple all the time whereas I think B&O is more akin to luxury labels than anything else. That is why I ....... Well B&O was doing way better when it was marketed that way FYI. Design, original ideas and branding are what saved B&O when it was facing bankruptcy way back when..... So that is why I think B&O should really bring its focus back to that. Not compete with other brands that have lower overheads.... B&O has to overcharge to survive! And the great way to do is via?....Then again there isn't exactly an exacting formula to success.... What worked then....
BTW B&O has worked with a certain brand from LVMH before and you know what brand am I talking about... So really am I that far off? B&O seems to think price is the only issue with their products... laughs...
Anyway point taken.
Electrified: Now, I'm never buying anything Apple again, but perhaps one day something similar will come along which doesn't tie you into a single manufacturer and with an industri standard plug.
Interesting.... I think I said something similar about B&O's plugs too...
What happened to B&O once standard RCA inputs are removed from their loudspeaker range?
Maybe I am not B&O's target market. But wait.....
If you have a Mk 1,2 or 3 iPad, then the A3 will extend its useful life and versatility for an absolute bargain price.
Like 100 other manufacturers, B&O have been caught out by Apples change of connector, meaning that most existing docking devices cannot work with the new iPad. B&O have made a sensible commercial decision not to bring out a new A3 with a lightning connector, yet they get panned for the decision (and/or the decision to make it in the first place) on this forum.
I am making good use of the A3, and my iPad (the wife's iPad!) will continue in service when we move onto later versions or a different make of tablet.
So, to repeat, if you have a Mk 1,2 or 3 iPad and don't buy the A3 at its current price whilst it is still available you are seriously missing out.

I would if my Ipad 3 isn't so bashed up looking already. And I am sure B&O will come up with an A3 replacement. Smart if they make that something that can be sold in flight as well.
A way better looking and built version of the bluetooth Definitive tech Sound cylinder will be very nice! Frankly I think it is great as it is already for the price range that is but B&O can make a luxury version of it. I will wait for B&O to step up till I get a Ipad sound dock. I have never gotten one before actually. I have always been waiting for a flashy show off worthy yet practical version from B&O.
And frankly the whole Beoplay branding is unnecessary. They could have just grouped the whole i range of products under a new category in the current core brand. Like what B&W did with the Zeppelin. Unless they are going to make the BeoPlay as well built with as the core range I suggest a total abandonment. The Zeppelin did nothing but strengthened B&W's market dominance. Just like how Focal's pro sector had only strengthened the image of the core range despite performing more while priced a lot less. I dunno... do B&O not do market research? What exactly is B&O's angle now?
PS. The whole audiophile and high end vision market is very marked up in general but if B&O know how to play their cards right. It's total domination!
