Hi,

This is my firt post on this very interesting forum. I'm the happy owner of a Beogram 4002 type 5521 (with DC motor) and I'm desperately looking for a damper cylinder, ref  3131123 on the service manual. Is there anybody who could provide such part or tell me where I coud find it ? (The price isn't an issue, and I would be pleased to buy the whole tonearm mechanism at the same time).

A question about these damper cylinders : apparentely there was two models, ref 3131059 for the early one, and 3131123 afterwards, and service manuals require lubrication with Dow Cornig 200 fluid for the first model, but don't say anything about lubrication for the second. I read on this forum that certain damper cylinders had no lubrication at all. What are the opinion and advices of a specialist, like Dillen ?

Thank you very much for your answers, and sorry for my bad english (french are generally awful english speakers...)

Welcome to Beoworld !

I have had good success by cleaning it all good, putting a drop of acid-free oil on my little finger and
smearing it around the inside of the brass cylinder. Work the piston back and forth a couple of times,
put it back into the Beogram and adjust the air-bypass screw on top for a suitable damping effect.
The lowering should take 1-2 seconds and the needle, obviously, should have hit the record before
the muting deactivates. It's quite sensitive, the final adjustment of the screw needs to be done in very tiny increments.

You will only need to replace the cylinder if damaged and you will need to upgrade to at least silver membership
to post wanted ads, we will appreciate your support.

go to forums, in the right column scroll down to private sales, private wanted.

Dear Martin,

A question about speed in 4002 turntables. When I received mine (inheritage from my late uncle), speed used to lower very often, even to stop in the middle of a record, the tonearm resting on the vinyl. I read what is is explained on this forum, i moved the little wheels provided to adjust speed; it solved the problem, but not completely. Of course I changed the belt. I suppose there is al little electrical problem coming from the  old capacitors or something like that. Is there a sort of maintenance chart where I could find the electric components that I have to change in order to solve the problem?

Thank you

Pierre
