Hello Beoworld! I am hoping that someone might be able to help me with an issue I'm having with my BeoSound 9000 MK1. I apologize if this question has already been asked, I wasn't able to find anything in the search area.

My unit has the typical issue where the CD player does not work. The unit would not even attempt to spin up the CD leading me to believe that the laser needed to be replaced.

So I order a brand new Panasonic laser (CDM 12.6) and installed that last weekend. On a side not I also replaced the capacitors on the IR board. As a result I had to take a lot more apart on the unit than normally would be required for a normal laser replacement.

Anyway, I now have a working IR sensor Smile but still have issues with the CD player Sad

When a CD is selected the sledge with lift the CD up and the CD will now spin up but it is very wobbly and makes a horrible racket. Some time it will play the CD but usually it is skipping like crazy.

I assume something mechanical is out of adjustment? I've attempted to adjust the two allen screws that are to the left and right of the display on the sledge. But no matter how I change those I don't seem to be able to improve the wobble.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Fred,

sorry to hear you're still having problems. I would have to think that some part of the suspension got out of position when you reassembled the CD mechanism after replacing the laser.  The turntable motor may not be level anymore but I doubt that's it. Maybe one of the 4 suspension springs fell out of it's place? Check to see if the mechanism has the same "bounce" on each side and makes sure that the position adjustments screws are facing the correct way for your unit's orientation.

Good luck,

Bill

That's what I would have thought as well. I've checked the four spring a few times now and they all seem to be sitting in the correct location.

Good call! I will give this a try. Up until recently I was not able to make use of the test modes as my remote wasn't being recognized. Luckily replacing the capacitors on the IR board did the trick. I'll reply back with what if any faults appear.
