Help !I posted a short request on March 4th about my Beocord 5000 (4922) regarding belts and resisitor fuse, all were replaced (thanks Martin) and the machine was reassembled and worked beautifully, - for 1 night, no problems that I could find, tape transport worked well, music sounded good and all functions appeared to work. I was very pleased with myself !However the next night I switched it on and got badly distorted sound leading to no sound, the VU/PPM meters were reading high (all lights on), the tape drawer was sluggish and made a crackle through the speakers when moving in/out. I've opened it up again thinking that I may has stressed the cover/frame/chassis/pc boards, but it's still the same - I think the tape drawer is just about working OK now, but I'm not getting what I had on the first night. The tape transport appears to still work fine, forwards, backwards and play - no problem. There is no (soldering) evidence of the caps having been replaced.Any thoughts anyone ?
Check power supply voltages.Check the connectors for the Dolby PCB.Replace the playback/record relay.

I've checked the output voltage from the transformer, 24v, 24v & 12v. All the connetors are fully pressed in, and I can see the relay activating when starting and stopping.
But, I've noticed that on the PPM/VU panel, all led's (red and green) light up on one channel, but only the green led's light up on the other channel (and the last green one is "shimmering").
I'm struggling with this one, any other ideas ?
