Dear friends,
I have just bought a BeoVision 4/42 plasma panel alone to connect with my PC.
The seller assured me that it powers on automatically when detects an incoming VGA signal, and now I know that is not true. I have read tons of manuals and docs over the internet and have not found a solution.
I understand, that BeoSystem send a signal to Serial Port to control it power state. Can it be simulated or called by something else?
Please help me understand how can I power on plasma without BeoSystem.
Thank you!
I have just spent 4 days trying to do the same thing with a BV4 / 50 ......................................... Dont worry there is hope (not an expensive BEO4 remote)
Unplug the serial, picture sensor and the IR leaving just power and a working sorce
Then using a Panasonic or universal remote programmed for a panasonic plasma hold the remote to the bottom left corner of the screen, pointing in towards the screen frame seal (the original IR sensor is hidden behind the frame) and you should hear a faint "boing" noise.
And yes it is just a rebadged Panasonic, but that still makes them great !
Good luck
Lots of infos on this site if you are a silver/gold member.
The service manual shows this:(BV4-50-D8_service-eng.pdf)

What is the resolution of your 4-42?
It sould be something like TH-42P...
- PW for wide screen (852 x 480)- PH for HD (1.366 x 768)- PF for Full HD (1.920 x 1.080)
Just check the panasonic website for details. Look for professionla plasma display.
I used to run a TH-42PWD6 (as far as I remember) with a Beosystem 2.
PS: a list I found that I used while searching for a display
Thank your your help!
I have ordered a remote, so I will inform with a result when it arrives!
Oleg
So you can put it on ? please tell me details
thank you i have de same problem with a beovision 4 full hd type 9080 fro 4 -2008
Yes, it works.
Just use native Panasonic or universal remote set to Panasonic codes. You need to point it in the little hope in aluminium frame from below.
Good luck!
ok i have two remotes from panasonic tvs but i can not put in on with this 50 " beovision 4 next step for me is remove the aluminium frame

Hi everyone,
I have the same problem, I just purchased a Beovison 4 65 - type 8991 with a beosystem 2 but without cables.I do not even know if the beovision work since I cannot turn it on, I try with some panasonic modele using my logitech harmony but dit not manage yet.
Do you have any advise such as panasonic plasma modele, location of the ir sensor on the 4 65, things I could check,...
Have a good day,
Loic
Update: problem fixed also on my side thanks to this post.
I remove the back of the tv to understand, I was happy to see a red ligth inside and I finally understand the location of the IR receiver, it is in the back at the vertical of the supports that allow to fix the beovision to the wall stand.Using the logitech IR blaster and the "driver" for Panasonic TH-65PHD, the TV switch ON!!!
Next step, hdmi to vga for beovision with audio extractor SPDIF for bose lifestyle.
What a screen!!
Hi Cclr.
I am about to purchase a Beovision 4 65 with a beosystem 2 same as you. Type 9091, item 1819663 serial 21417656
I would like to be able to use It as a Televisión controled by Chrome Cast or FireTv.
I see you have turned It on using a "Panasonic" remote control that is helpfull to be sure que TV screen works fine.
I assume maybe I will need to buy a beosystem 3 have you found any other solution?
