Until my Beosound 9000 is repaired, I have connected a bluetooth receiver (Esinkin W29) to my Beolab 1 speakers with RCA cables to stream music fro my iPhone. It works but is too loud. Any thoughts? Would a volume controlled pre-amp or a different bluetooth receiver be a better option? Many thanks for your help.

You need something with a variable level output so volume can be changed.  The Beolabs just play what they are given.  If the BT device only provides a fixed level output, then you either need a new BT device which does support volume control, or a pre-amp with variable output.  The pre-amp, it will sit between the fixed output BT device and the Beolabs.
