I have some B&O equipment I no longer use: A beosystem 7000 and a Beosound Century.

My first option was selling, but that has proven rather difficult. I'm thinking of storing them for a while. The equipment will be neatly packed and stored in a room with low humidity with temperatures varying between +5 to +20 degrees centigrade.

Are there any precautions I should know about?

Many thanks in advance.

Not below 10 deg C to avoid dew buildup, aim for a minimum of 12 deg C to have a safety margin.
5 degrees is the temp. in your refrigerator, you don't want to store your B&O in there, do you ?
Bubblewrap everything.

Thanks, Martin. Yes - thumbs up 5 degrees is a low estimate, I think it's a bit higher. Everything is neatly wrapped.

I have a vacation home that stays vacant during the winter months, and I keep its temperature around 6 degrees centigrade. I have never experienced any trouble with storing B&O equipment at this low temperature in that house. Just don't raise the temperature and humidity too quickly when bringing the equipment out of storage or condensation can occur.

Low temperature can affect the integrity of belts and turntable cartridges, though I have had no problems with storing a Beocenter 7007, a pair of Epicure speakers and a Beocord VX 5000 VHS deck at +3 degrees Celsius over the winter Wink

Solder joints may suffer from tin plague when stored in temps below +13°C.

Put the items in plastic bags that can be sealed with some silica gel for any moisture.

Doesn't really apply but because of the high humdity where I live, the worst thing ever is to wrap them up. Guarenteed to cause damaged.

Unwrapped they seem very happy :)

If you are really serious about protecting your equipment long term, box it up after wrapping with acid free paper.

Place in a room of well regulated temperature.

Get an accurate and reliable dehumidifier such as a Mitsubishi for either just that room or to influence the whole house.

Worst thing you could do? Wrap in bubble wrap and place in a loft or shed where the temperature will go from freezer to oven!
