I recently acquired a Beosound 3000 and want to set it in Option 2.However, it seems like the BS3000 or possibly my Beo4 is not responding to the command.
On Beo4 I press ● + LIST -> OPTION -> GO -> A.OPT.
As I understand it A.OPT. should then start blinking and I could then press 2 to choose Option 2.A.OPT. never starts blinking, though.
I have a BG4500 connected and another problem is the BS3000 doesn't recognize phono input, thus does not turn on when I start the record player.
When I press PHONO on Beo4 BS3000 turns on N.RADIO but the speakers stay off. I can choose A.AUX to play records and start from BG4500 manually. But I would really like to be able to use the remote.
Everything worked fine with a BS2500 that was set up earlier.Any help is much appreciated.

Just to check, you should press GO when OPTION shows, and then LIST until A.OPT shows. Then A.OPT should start blinking on the Beo4 screen. Is A.OPT solid, or just not there?
Regarding PHONO, are all 7 pins present in the BG's DIN connector? I presume so as it worked with the BS2500. If so, it does sound like a fault with the Beo4's LIST functions. You could view with a phone camera and look for the IR transmitters glowing when you press GO with PHONO on the display.
Have you tried removing the Beo4's batteries and replacing?
Yes, I did press GO also. I wrote it from memory and left that out. I'll edit my original post to reflect that :)
A.OPT is there but stays solid.
All 7 pins in the BG4500 are present and the Beo4 seems to work fine with everything else. It definitely transmits a signal as the BS3000 turns on in N.RADIO mode. I've replaced the batteries with new ones but the problem persists.
It's a longshot but are you using Beolab 3s? These have been know to cause weird problems with some of the upright Beosystems such as BC2300.
Otherwise I would say that it's a Beo4 problem, but it is very strange that pressing PHONO selects N.RADIO (equivalent IR, as expected) but without turning the speakers on.
I just had a look at the BS3000 service manual and there is no connection to the datalink pins in the A.AUX socket, hence why you cannot remote control the turntable.

That explains why it doesn't work. What a shame :/
I'm using BL5000's and have had no previous issues with anything like this. Still don't understand what could be the cause to my other issues.
However, since datalink does not work the thing about Option 2 is kind of obsolete. I'm using a Y-splitter on the AUX connection to have the BG4500 and a Chromecast audio connected simultaneously. See my thread from 2014 for clarification:

No problem - a learning exercise for me too! Make's me realise that my BC2300 is more useful that a BS3000 for my BG6500, especially since I can always use a Beolink converter to get Masterlink.
But it does seem a bit short-sighted of B&O to drop datalink from the BS3000, when may users probably still had turntables.

Agreed. But maybe B&O decided that turntables were a thing of the past in that time period and didn't think it was worth keeping datalink functionality.
The BS2500 was actually a little better functionally for me, in that sense, but the BS3000 looks so much nicer with no cassette player and the larger CD clamp disc.

This sw tells the BS3000 to open a channel to the Beomedia, Beomaster 5, or Beomaster/Besound 5 when given the command A.Tape2 (=N.MUSIC) or Phono (=N.RADIO). So you have to use with the A.Aux command instead to listen to an Aux connected device.
