Hi there,
I am the proud owner of a complete white Beosystem 5500. I keep reading that the white version was a limited edition version, but what exactly does that mean?
Was it produced in smaller numbers, and if so how many were produced/sold? I understand this is probably impossible to quantify/record but does anyone have any ideas?
Purely for my own personal intrigue of course!
Thanks,
Ben
I believe it was made for a limited time towards the end of the production of the 5500 models, but perhaps not in too limited quantities. I have a white BM5500 and the other bits and pieces come up for sale regularly. I wouldn't call them exactly rare, but they are obviously fewer than the regular aluminum versions. With 6500, white was already a regular colour and the later system is usually preferred for other reasons (Powerlink sockets, one more usable input).
The entire white 5500 setup is not common to see though, so take good care of your system Do you have a white MCP5500 as well?

Well, all B&O products are "limited" but of course some more than others. The white Beosystem 5500 is somewhat rare. When I use that term its because it's not really rare, there arelots of them about but there are far more of the "conventional" design.Based from repair experience, my guess would be that about 15-20% of the Beosystem 5500s around are white.
If you don't already have one, a white design Beolink 1000 would complete your Beosystem nicely. They are rare, though.

I have a white 5500 sans Beogram. Only use the Beomaster these days! The BM5500 is a very versatile unit because it has so many connections!

Thank you all for your responses!
That is very interesting Mika! I do have a white MCP 5500.
Martin, the white Beolink 1000, were they just sold individually? They must be rare, I haven't seen any!

I can't say for sure but I've heard that it was an option for the whiteline and white design LX TVs.I have one but it didn't come with my white LX2802, a family member found it somewhere.
