My understanding of the change to 6002 (and 8002) was to meet European standby power requirements, b&o at the time made no claims to have improved the audio performance in any way (I can't remember them claiming to have made it worse though, either)
Ban boring signatures!
Why would you settle for the 6000's ,when 8000's are far superior. ( Unless it's a dollar issue ?)
I've had both, and a B&O engineer is on record as saying that the 6000's sounded like a car radio playing through a downpipe !

Noel.
I know it is a matter of taste but I actually like the 6000 design better than the 8000.
I have a pair of 6000 but never had the chance of listen to the 6002. Some people report that the sound of the 6002 is a little more dynamic others say it is more or less the same - probably a matter of taste and you ears ability.

Chris Townsend:At to be honest, I want more of this look. Something a bit more subtle.
Guys, I couldn't agree more. In my mind these are actually more iconic than the 8000s. From a design perspective, they are perfect; proportions, form, the material and workmanship, dialled down and perfectly resolved where as the 8000s take it just over the line, which for me is a step too far. That's not to say that the 8000s aren't super, but the 6000s are just mhmm.
And let's not forget, which BeoLab is in MoMA's permanent collection?
When the BeoLab 6002 (and 8002) were released I was rather stunned that the lower part "effective frequency range" of the 6002 was better than the 8002 and and way better than the 8000. Also the 6000 was rated as 2x 59W, 6002 as 2x 125W (same as the 8002!) Unfortunately I never had the chance of hearing the BeoLab 6002.
Anyway... Since 1 month the owner of BeoLab 6000's with silver cloth... Nice addition to the 8000's and BL11. Can't complain (anymore) about the surround sound :-)

HELLO
This thread is quite old but when I look at the answers, I need to add my opinion.
People who say that there are no differences between the 6000 and 6002 have never heard a 6002. If they have done it, the speakers or their ears had issues.
Their power and frequency range is far above the 6000, 8000 and 8002.
One day I was in a b&o store and heard a pair of speakers playing on my back. I thought wow the sound of this woman voice is so good and clear.
It was 6002, I was really impressed. I owned 6000, 8000, still own a 8000 mk2, bl5, BL9, and I had a chance to buy a pair of beolab 6002 recently.
Can't be better for a small room or if you have few space. They are quite expensive because of their rarity and they have not the design of the 8000, but they worth to pay 800 euros for them.
On the wall that can be different. In the past I have been really disappointed by a pair of bl6000 on a wall so I don't know for a pair of 6002.
Soon I will test them with a beolab 2 in order to see if it could bring some more efficient bass. A friend of mine had done it with four beolab 6000 and was satisfied.
4 beolab 5, beolab 9, beolab 10, beolab 5000, beolab 8000 mk2, beolab 6002, beolab 3500, beovision 7 55 mk2, 2 beovision 11 46 mk4, beotime, beosound ouverture, beosound essence, beoplay A8, beomaster 900 RG de luxe and the collection continues...
