Hi all,

I hope you can help me out.

I own a Beogram 7000 with a MMC2 catridge. But i know the catridge has been on the Beogram for a long time which is maybe 6-7 years. When i bought from the turntable i was told that is has not been played that much in those 6-7 years. I am in doubt wether to change it or now. Could you please take a look and see if it should be replaced by a new one?

Thank you in advance, (and yes i know there is sone dirt on it)

Best regards

Charlie

how does it play ?  have you tried playing any test records with it ?

yes it needs a little clean, but cannot see anything too bad with it - so that is why I think you need to do some critical listening first - besides this - it is a very good idea to have a reserve MMC cartridge as a spare, and be able to listen to both - it does not have to be a MMC2 -  the MMC3 and MMC4 will give you a very good idea if your MMC2 is failing

Yes, clean it then listen to it, observe how it does. Does the suspension allow the plastic guard to get close to the record? The thing is these carts are among the best ever designed. So totally worth it to get the suspension rebuilt. I'd send it to Amina. This cart is at least 35 yrs old since manufacture so don't hesitate if you have any desire to have the best on your table.

The question I have is how best to clean these stylus? I've read on this forum not to use solution? I wonder if that is correct?
