Hi, I wonder if anybody has any thoughts advice on the below:
My Beosound Stage is randomly switching off my LG GX TV. It is connected tot the LG via HDMI ARC and a network cable.
This is the most frustrating problem ever as it happens randomly but recently every 3/4 minutes. I initially thought it must be the LG tv that was faulty so had a replacement sent but the problem has re-occured. The TY remains on without issue when I unplug the HDMI ARC and Network cable.
I purchased directly from B&O website. On contacting support and going through everything they could think of (which I had tried already) they are refusing to replace and saying I must contact my local B&O dealer (Glasgow). I did this yesterday and await response...
Any help very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Calum
Hello,
in the connections section of the TV menu there is "auto power sync" have you tried playing around with it?
Hi, yes had spotted that and is set it to off but made no difference unfortunately
I'm gonna sound like those poorly-trained typing monkeys in B&O front-line support, sorry, but: Have you only/always been disconnecting the HDMI cable from the TV, and not from the Stage? And does the TV turn off if the Stage is completely (pull-the-plug) powered down? If so, try removing and re-inserting the HDMI cable on the Stage end you don't normally touch, and/or maybe switch HDMI cables. Cheap HDMI jacks are the norm these days, and HDMI CEC *can* (but doesn't always, it's configurable) power up and down the TV based on its associated equipment (and can do vice versa). Now, I don't know how much the Stage sends LG listens to CEC, given its extra network connection, but at least re-seating and swapping cables is super-easy to test. Yes, the TV *could* be receiving random instructions from a failing control chip or CPU inside the Stage, but that's so much less likely than a complete crash; more likely is heat causing an oxidized connector pin to flake. (Also easy to test, though far less likely to be the problem, is putting all your remote controls far, far, far away just to make sure you aren't inadvertently telling the Stage to power down. At least *try* all the trivial nonsense, before placing (and having to pay for) a service call.)
Hey, thanks for the reply. So, I tried swapping out the network cable and the hdmi cable today just in case but the problem is exactly the same. It always seems to be between 3-4 minutes of powering on. Sooooo frustrating. Have just tried as you suggested and powered off Stage at mains but still HDMI connected and network cable. The TV does not switch off..
How does the Stage behave, if you just use it without the tv (disconnected from it)?
Just playing music or radio on it.

There is a tv - and there is a BV
Stage works absolutely fine on its own. Can stream music from iPhone no problem. Also have beosound 4 connect to aux in on stage and works fine too. 🤷🏼♂️
Well, OK, so now you have at least proven it isn't a pin from Stage to LG causing it. Which is as you suspected, having turned off LG's Auto Power Sync feature. Still, that feature is supposed to prevent *any* power control, even legitimate non-error HDMI-CEC signals. But it isn't -- which suggests either the power control is coming from the network connection or some other kind of failure. An easy thing to try is disconnecting the network without disconnecting the HDMI, after you have it up and running & playing. Audio should still travel to the Stage regardless, and the TV should remain on, regardless of network port status going down, and not receiving instructions from the network.
My other typing-monkeys stab in the dark: try disconnecting the Aux-In, just in case some stupid sleep mode is hitting you because of [line-in detection level, or Beolink enabled, or, or, or]. Yes, it's another pigeon-dance, but it's trivial and cheap to try. (Speaking of pigeon-dances, what's all this about streaming input from your phone? Hey, I thought I said to take all the remotes far, far, far away. You don't happen to have a 3-year-old running around the house, do you? Oooh, a RED button!)
Finally, you didn't actually say that you had downloaded the GX's B&O App from LG; I've never tried, so have no idea how much magically works without it, lulling you into a false sense of security? Sigh, at least if you pay the dealer for a service call, they can bring a second Stage, to test against your (second) LG screen.
So I have discovered what the issue was! I can’t believe this was what it was but the TV is now not powering off... The Beosound 4 connected to the line in on the Stage was the issue... I had a power cut the other day and hadn’t used the Beosound 4 since and it had the red led flashing waiting for the pin to be entered. I have now entered the pin and the problem has gone! Unbelievable! Many thanks for all of your efforts.
Hey, excellent news -- well done!
(4th guess out of 5 is not so bad for a monkey like me... Kay Bojesen would be proud. Speaking of "proud", if you ever check back here, maybe shoot us a photo of what it looks like, with your GX hugging the wall but the Stage standing well out from it.)
Meant as a helping hand....
