First time poster and new to the world of B&O so go gently with me.

I'm currently in the process of putting together my surround sound setup and have a speaker dilemma. I'm using the following:

Samsung TV with matching soundbar being used as centre channel via aux input

Onkyo 7.1 AV amp

Grundig Audiorama 9000 fronts

And now the dilemma. For my surround speakers I have a pair of Beovox 3000 and a pair of Beolab 4000. Which should I use as the rear surrounds (behind the listener) and which as the side rear surround (to each side of the listener)? In a 7.1 setup is the rear or side rear utilised more as if there is definite bias towards one I would guess I should utilise the better speakers there? Which then opens the debate as to which is the better speaker?

I'd welcome any thoughts, advice and opinions.

I would use the better sounding speakers as the side surround since they may be used more often. I'm not familiar with the sound capability of the BL4000, but I've owned a pair of BeoVox 4500s and was impressed with their performance.

If your Bvox 3000 are flat panel, I would use the BL 4000 as side and the Bvox as back, the BL 4000 is the better speaker.

If your Bvox are the old box type, you will have to decide which one is the better.

Collecting Vintage B&O is not a hobby, its a lifestyle.

I have both the Beovox 3000 and Beolab 4000 speakers. The Beolab 4000 speakers far, far outperform the Beovox 3000 speakers. Unless your surround processor is matrixing all sound, including 5.1, to 7.1, the side surrounds speakers will be used more than the rear speakers. Thus, it might be better to use the 4000s as the side surrounds.
