Hi everyone,
I have been working on this Beocenter 7700 for the last few weeks and today I finished installing the new idler tires and belts. All new rubber, from BeoParts - 2 belts, 4 idler tires.
This amazing video guided me through the process and I followed every step carefully:

(it's the same cassette mechanism as the 7700).
Here's my disappointment: the new rubber tires have made no difference to the Fast Forward. It is still painfully slow, almost the same speed as PLAY. In fact, when I pulled the old idler tires out, they appeared to be flexible and unworn. So, no improvement. Still very slow FF'wd.
When I press FF'wd, i hear spinning sound that is greater than the speed of the FF'wd. I suspect that there isn't adequate pressure or contact between two idler tires, and that is why it's not fast.
Is there an adjustment to make to ensure proper pressure and contact?
Any guidance on proper lubrication?

Unfortunately this may be the issue- old lubricant, which may mean - disassembling, cleaning, and re-lubricating everything. White lithium grease, will it be sufficient?
Sure you got the brakes in the correct places?The brake arm for the right tape reel easily comes on the wrong side of ita flange, gets bent and blocks the transport.

I did take care to get that brake back into where it should be. The video that I watched really stressed the importance of doing this properly.
However, I’ve taken the mechanism apart to have a look again. Here is what I noticed. I see three ‘brakes’ (see photo in the next post), one on the left and two on the right. None of them have brake pads, but I think they once did. I found two brake pads floating around (see photo) and maybe there’s a third one in there. I guess I should make some new pads and glue them in? They appear to be similar to the little pressure pad you find in a cassette, but they appear to be soaked in oil. Is it good or important that they are soaked in oil? Lastly, could this be the reason why my fast forward isn’t working well? It seems unrelated to fast forwarding.
