Hi, i have a pair of beolab 4000 paired with my Mac - works great but at time's when the computer is turned off or not on audio the speakers turn on and off every 10-20 seconds. I can hear it click on and the light turns green. no sound though. even if i unplug the jack from the computer it still happens. what causes this? what can i do to prevent it from happening?
thank you in advance
rasmus
The early Beolab 4000s suffered from foam rot, where the acoustic foam inside disintegrated and messed around with the electronics. This could be the problem, especially if it is happening even when the speakers are disconnected.
If you search the forum further you'll find advice about which serial numbers are affected and what to do about it.
thanks! i'll give that a shot.
Hey,
have you found a solution?
I have the same problem: After playing music one speaker will not stay in standby modus. Instead it switches on and off in an Intervall of about 5 to 10 seconds. The switch is in the LINE Modus. But it also happens, if I unplug the RCA Cable. So it can’t be electrical interference from the cable.
If I switch the speaker off with the button and then on, the Speaker will stay in Standby until music is played. If I stop the music, the problem as described above will occur.
I have already replaced the black foam. It wasn’t fully rotten and I could take it out in big pieces. I cleaned the PCB, but it looked quite good anyway.
Has anyone an Idea, which component could lead to the described behaviour?
Thank you all!
