First post here on BW,

I've owned this TX for 37 years, bought it on a whim and immediately upgraded to the mmc2, so it is also 37 yrs old. I was thinking about how to get back into vinyl and thought I'd probably take the plunge and move into MC carts until I saw the very long thread on AudioGon by Raul about how MMs really can be special and some compare well to the best MCs, etc. Of course the B&O MMC2 was among his favorites. So I took a deep breath, fingers crossed, plugged in my TX and saw the little red dot, then hit play and it tried to find a record spinning up to 45 from 33 then went back to park. Whew! So, I took a look at the MMC2 and it seems a bit off, the cantilever is over a bit to one side. I looked online and found that these old carts can be rebuilt, I sent it to Amina.

So now I am thinking about how to use this TX. I'd like to use it for ripping vinyl, specifically CD-4 Quad records, using a sonic record cleaner first to get the records pristine. Then doing a stereo rip and having software do the rest. There is software, for Mac, in development that can do this now.

So will this TX be up for CD-4 playback? It is my understanding that a CL like the previous great B&O cart MMC 20 CL can do it, and that this new mini MMC2 can also. But the TX would need 'low capacitance' wiring?

I'm afraid to open the TX up for service to make any mods because I need it to do this project... Can I just cut off a few feet of RCA and then put on some Eichman RCA plugs and consider this low capacitance?
