Hello from Los Angeles, CA.
I need your experience. I am installing a pair of Beolab 4000 speakers in my workshop and want to connect them to my Beomaster 8000 power amp. The amp only takes a 2 pin connector and the Beolab only takes a round 7 pin connector. Is there either a cable that I can buy with those to different plugs or a 2 pin to 7 pin dongle? I sure hope I can find a solution to my dilemma. Thank you for any insight.

Well, your BM8000 is designed to work with passive speakers, and your 4000´s are active. However if your 4000´s are the MK1´s they would also have a phono plug for line connection. These would then be connected at the left side of the BM8000, where there should be 4 phonos- pre out/main in. These should be shortcircuted by clamps , but remove these and use the pre out and connect these to the 4000.
However, if your 4000´s are the Mk2, you cant directly connect them, as these are only powerlink where the power on signal is missing.

It has been suggested that I could connect from the tape 1 out from the Rt & Lt RCA connector into RCA to 7 pin female dongle to connect my 7 pin cable into one of the speakers. Do you think that will work? By the way, I'm waiting to receive the beolab 4000 speaked next week, but looking at the pictures, I belive them to be mk1.
Hi Zapdady.
If they are indeed the MK1´s, easy to see, the Led indicator in front is a switch, and it has a RCA/Phono connection in the back, you would use these to connect, RCA-RCA, and not the powerlink input(Din 8 Pole). It wouldńt work with the tape/line out of BM8000, since these are unregulated output for recording purposes. Instead use the OUT on the left side. These are meant for connecting external equalizers and such, and are simply a link between signals and the inbuild amplifier. You should use the signal, Out, for the 4000´s, and not connect the IN. This is, ofcourse, assuming you are not using passive speakers also.
The 4000´s needs a 5v signal to turn on with the DIN/powerlink connection, which the BM8000 doesnt have. Using the RCA/Line on the 4000, it will turn on when signal is present.
BTW the 4000 is a really fine speaker, however, depending on the age/serial it could have an issue with “Foam Rot”, look it up on this forum.
