Hey all. Landed on a Beosystem 5500 photos few days ago, while searching for some 80's and 90's equipment to compensate my midlife crisis and instantly fell in love. I'm no audiophile by any measure and all I'm after is look and feel and this seems to hit the bullseye. I'm planning on getting a Beomaster / Beogram / Beocord combo and eventually adding the VX video recorder on top. Of course, this all shall go along with the big remote.

However. I'm unsure about the speakers I should pair it all with. My issue with that is they should be bookshelves and on the small side. I have a very limited space for the whole set, thus started looking into small footprint pieces, that won't break my bank either (not really willing to splash more than 150-200€ on speakers, considering I will hardly make a difference). Eventually kind of narrowed down my selection to B&W LM-1/M-1, Q Acoustics 2010 and Mordaunt-Short MS902. I'd also consider Neumi BS5, but it seems these are not really available in Europe.

So I'd love a piece of advice here. I'm really leaning towards the B&W's, as Mordaunts don't fit aesthetically the setup and the Q's are rated at 6 ohms, though I like them very much. But I guess there are other alternatives I have missed. So yeah, any piece of advice on the speakers and the setup per se would be appreciated.

You haven’t considered the B&O CX100’s?

They sound very nice, and you get them for a nice price also.

From your list, I'd go the Mordaunt Short MS902s for definite, although I may possibly be slightly biased...

Truth be told here, I'm not a big fan of those. To me personally, they do not fit the retro-cyberpunk aesthetics of the system. That's well before the fact I simply can't fit them, unless they are on stands. Otherwise, I could obtain a decent couple at about 90-100€, which is quite a bargain.

Ah, these actually look amazing and the possibility to hang them on the wall makes them even better. Thanks!
