Good afternoon guys,
I have a beautiful BG 4002 but its speed is unstable at 45 rpm only. It play perfectly at 33 rpm.
Then I assume I can't be the belt (which looks good anyway) or the motor, right?
If I'm right could someone point me to where to look at, If I'm wrong I'd be curious to understand how this can be.
I recently read a post from chartz saying recap is not "as mandatory in beograms as it can be in an amplifier", but could a bad capacitor or any other aged component be responsible for wavy speed only on 45 and not 33?
If it can be of any help, It's with a large, 180 grs record (33 sized) played at 45 rpm (Pink Floyd Live in Knebworth 1990).
Thank you in advance.
Bad belt.Bad speed switching relay.Bad speed setting trimmer on main board.Dirty speed adjustment potentiometer on the operation panel.Dry motor bearings.Bad capacitors.Any combination of the above.
All common. All part of the complete overhaul that all of these decks need by now.

It's been a long time since I haven't been on this Forum. This problem rings a bell.. my Beogram 4002, type 5513 had the same problem. The culprit on mine was the speed relay. It's the small plastic and transparent box under the main board, written Siemens on it (if I remember correctly) I think they tend to oxidize with time, making bad contact with the speed that is not used really often (45 rpm..), thus the speed fluctuation. I have desoldered it, opened it and gently rubbed it's connector with a piece of parchment paper soaked into deoxit. Problem solved.

Ok, thanks Dillen.
But Why only at 45 and not 33?
Could affect any of the speeds - or both.In your case perhaps because 45 is rarely used, perhaps because the speed switching relay normally rests with 45 contacts open (more exposed to airs moisture)or because running on 45 puts an ever so slightly heavier load on the power supply and the motor - or perhaps there is actually a problem with 33 as well but you just didn't notice it yet. It's not uncommon to see these decks fail at 45 first. If it really only affects 45, it could point to the relay contacts and the trimmer/potentiometer.Difficult to say without having it on the bench - but I wouldn't spend to much time diagnosing, I'd rather just do the list.
Thank you for the details.
