Beomaster 5000 can only be remotely controlled using a Terminal 5000 or a Master Control Panel 5000.

No. Beomaster 5000 will not understand the codes sent from a Beolink 1000.

There was an 'IR Code Converter' that allowed the BM5000 to be controlled by a BL1000.  It looks a bit like the MCL2 kit, and uses the same IR transceiver.  Apparently it's very hard to come by.

Even with that you still cannot do all the programming, that can only be done from the MCP.

There are a few more details (including pictures on page 2 of the thread) here:  https://archivedarchivedforum2.beoworld.org/forums/t/14788.aspx

... and for Silver/Gold members there is a copy of the converter's installation and operation instructions filed with BM5000 service manuals.  There are no circuit diagrams, but it does say that it was also designed to use with the BS7700 and also BM6000/8000 - the later two systems requiring a little internal modification first.

The part number of the converter is 8089017.
