Hi there,
I have a strange effect in my masterlink network and am clueless how to fix it. So any tipps greatly appreciated. Here's the setup
Living Room: BV10-32 with BL9 hooked to it. BS3000 with BG 7000 connected. BV-10 is Video and Audio Master
Dining Room: BL3500
Kitchen: BL 2000
Bathroom: BL Passive
Master Bedroom: BV 7-32 (V.Opt 6)
All connected via Masterlink. Now here's what's strange. When I hit A.AUX on my Beo 4 in the Living room everything works as expected: BS3000 starts up and when I start the BG I can listen to records. When I now switch on the BL3500, BL2000 or BL Passive while A.AUX is playing in the living room, I can listen to the record in the respective rooms. However, when e.g. I want to start listening to a record only in the Kitchen and I hit A.AUX on the Beo 4 (BS3000 not switched on yet) nothing happens. As if the system doesn't know about A.AUX.
It smells like some wrong option settings. But how, what, where? Any pointers, tipps highly appreciated.

Hmm,
need to check. BL3500 mounted on top the entrance door. Needs some tools and a ladder :-) Thanks for that hint anyway.

The display reads: SW X.Y, which is the software version number.

Checked my BL3500. It's SW 1.2 :-( Is the PROM upgradable?

Hi,
I'm sorry the EPROM can't be changed. The complete module has to be changed, but is quite easy.
Have you ever tried to 'open' the AUX Port by pressing 'A-Tape' (or 'A-MEM') on your Beo4. This might do the trick with your BL 3500.

Interesting you mention that. I pressed A-Tape in the main room and interestingly BS3000 switched on. Switching on the BG7000 which is connected to the AUX port, however, did nothing - no sound from the turntable. I wonder what A-Tape the BS3000 was expected to play as there is none. Pressing A-Tape elswhere also (obviously) yields the same result.

The A.TAPE (or more appropriately A.MEM) function was probably kept spare as a 'ghost input' ready for the soon-to-be-introduced BS3200, where A.MEM would have selected the digitally stored media*, I assume.
* CD MEMORY - stored 'ripped' CDs.

with a B&O Tape connected to the A.AUX connector it could be controlled via the IR Remote selecting A.MEM or A.TAPE.
What the IR command does is:
- switch the Audio path to the A.AUX connector and
- send the Tape-ON and Tape-Start command on the datalink Pin to the connected device. If there's a non B&O Tape it will not react to the commands, if a Beogramm is connected it will ignore the Datalink Tape-Commands.
After rereading the system description it should be possible to 'open' the A.AUX port with the 'PHONO' command (has to be added to the LIST on the BEO4 ). This should also allow the control of the Beogram, even from the BeoLab 2000 and 3500. The TVs might show N.RADIO or N.MUSIC but it should work.
But the aux socket on the BS3000 doesn’t have datalink. (Hence why the OP has been starting his Beogram manually).
I doubt that PHONO will work for the same reason (it's been re-purposed), but it's worth a try!

It has been discussed before on the forum, but I too had forgotten until I wondered why he was starting the BG manually rather than using PHONO!

you are right! i just watched the circuit diagram for the Audio, where the pins 6 and 7 of the A-AUX port are connected and fed to the processor board via E94 / G94. Didn't look further on the diagram for the µP. There the corresponding line is marked as coming in but then N.C. I guess it was formely defined in the spec sheet and later they just left it unused.
