I make this photo through the window ....

It shows like a very small speaker and the cheapest in the range.

Wow! On Mozart? If it matches the M3 I’ll get a few of them!

If this is on Mozart there is really no excuse to keep the Beolit and A2 Bluetooth-only.

Although the description on the sign says “Spritzwassergeschützt“ which means “splash-proof”

I guess we will have to wait for the IP rating to know for sure.

The price looks promising though.

Especially if it is based on Mozart.

It would probably say WiFi on the box if it was Mozart.

Maybe akin to Sonos Roam?

Currently: BeoLab 17, BeoLab 18, BeoSound Core, Beosound Level, Beosound A1 2nd Gen, BeoPlay S8 Connection Hub, Halo, Essence Remote

Previously: BeoSound 1 non-GVA

I don’t care about ‘waterproof’.

I want to know if it is a bluetooth or a wifi speaker (based on the Mozart platform)....although I have my doubts about wifi/Mozart at that price.

Then again.....why call it a ‘Beosound’, if not wifi?

But.....to judge from the controls on the top, there can’t be much more than bluetooth to it.

Now that I’ve taken a closer look probably Bluetooth only. The A1 is called BeoSound too, confusingly.

Yes, you are right - from the 2nd gen on.

But the A9 is still called Beoplay.

Rather confusing :-(

You are probably right about the bluetooth only - however it might be pretty good......assuming it is the size of 3 A1’s ;-))))

I did visit a B&O shop earlier today, but unfortunately I saw this thread afterwards - otherwise I might have had more information.

I love the design, but I feel like this is gonna conflict with Beosound A1 2nd Gen... same price, but this one is probably gonna sound much better by the look of it.

Still, I'm very upset at B&O for dropping the Beoplay brand for speakers, and using Beoplay just for headphones.

This would have been ideal and much clearer:

Bluetooth only:

  • Beoplay H# - headphones
  • Beoplay E# - earphones
  • Beoplay A# - speakers
Medium-range multiroom (Wi-Fi + BT) speakers:
  • Beosound whatever
High-end stereo/home theatre speakers:
  • Beolab

I haven’t got specifics but judging by the fact that they had the product and the box in the window, it must be pretty imminent. I have found the following Finnish site, claiming they would have the Black Anthracite and - interestingly - Green versions in stock on 28th May.

A lot of people do! I have some tilers working outside at the moment and their speaker just broke in heavy rain, despite being under their gazebo, as it wasn't fully waterproof and they were so angry they went home early Big Smile

I know - just said that I personally don’t....nothing more ;-)

A must be for a bluetooth only portable speaker of today, for sure.

A UK online retailer has listed the Explore for sale on their site, ostensibly with ready availability. Some of the key specs from the listing:

  • Speaker Configuration - 2 x 1.8” Full Range Drivers
  • Amplifier - 2 × 30 W Class D For Full Range
  • Sound Direction - 360 degrees
  • Frequency Range - 56-22.700 Hz
  • Max Loudness @ 1M (SPL) - 91 dB
  • Bass Capability @ 1M (SPL) - 59 dB
  • Wireless Codec - SBC
  • Stereo Pairing - Yes, between 2 Beosound Explores only
  • Multipoint - Yes, up to 2 devices
  • Customisable Sound EQ - Yes, five presets available in the Bang & Olufsen app and fully customisable
  • Product LEDIP Certification - IP67
  • Battery Playtime - 27 hours (typical listening volume)
  • Battery Size - 2,400 mAh
  • Power Consumption - Typical: 6.2 W Standby: 0.19 W
  • Power Supply - 5V DC / 3A via USB-C connector
  • Charging Time - 2 hours at 5V – 3A charging
  • Bluetooth Version - 5.2
  • USB Inputs/Outputs - USB-C for charging and streaming
  • Speakerphone - None
  • Voice Assistant - None
  • In The Box - Beosound Explore, Quick Start Guide, USB-C to USB-A cable, 1.25 m
  • Dimensions - (W x H x D) 81 x 124 x 81mm
  • Weight - 631g without carabiner 637g with carabiner
  • Materials - Fabric, Plastic, Type II Anodised Aluminium
  • Recommended Room Size - 5-30m2

Shame there's no Mozart, and hence no Airplay. I suppose it's time to give in and buy a Sonos Roam for the shower.

Will be interesting to compare the performance with that of the A1 (2) - Explore is listed at £169.00, compared with £200 for the A1.

The driver difference is curious - swapping the woofer & tweeter for two full range seems backwards to me. Will this replace the A1, or just sit as a cheaper addition to the line? It's getting a little crowded down there.

MM, you were able to read my mind!

ALL wireless speakers should have a Line in socket, regardless of their price.  This makes even the simplest speaker able to link to any classic or vintage B&O system - like the Beolit 20 that is my kitchen speaker on my MCL link system.... Whistle

Kind regards, Steve.

You will be able to hang it onto a bag and FCC sketches show some kind of a handle in the back.

Looks good and has some resemblance of the Beomic BM5.

Hopefully it comes in natural aluminium, blue etc., too. :-)

But again it doesn't have Bluetooth APT-X support. Why don't they support it?

Sometimes the initial listed specs are wrong or incomplete - so there still might be hope for a line-in connection :-)))

Yes, I thought that was pretty unclear too. Hopefully it’ll at least be a USB audio in - better than nothing.

There weren’t any photos of the rear in the listing, so it’s possible the specs are incomplete and there is a line-in. Fingers crossed.

There is a USB-C connection for power so probably also for USB audio in just like the A1.

Sure, that will be the case with the USB-C.

But that won’t help Steve and others, who wants to pipe an analog audio signal into it.

I guess we'll have to wait till it's released. The BeoPlay P1 also didn't have a line-in...

In that case it needs to have Bluetooth 5.3, Wifi 6, analogue and optical in and out, wisa, powerlink and a battery that lasts 48 when playing at 75, eArc, ABL & the Mozard mk II platform. 2x 100w for tweeters, 3x200w midrange and 2x300w for bass. And all of this for max 250€

I’m going to be véry disappointed if B&O does not implement these feature. Then it proves that B&O does’t listen to their customers

The mid-20th century called.  It wants its design back.  And it wants you to know, "One Word: Plastics."  This is the perfect speaker for Chicagoans who live at Marina City, Angelenos who work at Capitol Records, or Muenchners who work at BMW Hochhaus.
