Hi I have just bought a Beosound Core and som 50's (Used) I want to use The optical output. but when I try to use it the speaker start, but no sound comes out I have tried other cables (good quality) and tried to adjust in the Bang-Olufsen app and tried to reset also...:( do you have some ideas.. When I use Powerlink it works, but some little scratch sound when I start or volume up/down. I have seen here from others that Optical should be the best..

Thanks in advance.

When you use the optical connection, the default volume of the Beolab 50 is at 60. So u kinda have to crank up the Beosound core’s volume in order to actually hear some sound.

You need to make sure you have things set up properly in the app to use either the Core volume control, or the volume control built in to the 50s.

Best way to do it, will be to configure the output of the Core as fixed output - and control the 50’s via it’s own app or a connected ir-eye.

However this will require changing apps (or having the optional ir-eye connected).

You could configure the Core output as variable and this way use the volume control in the app or with the Beoremote, the Essence Remote....

Try out both....to see what fits you best and if you hear any major difference in the sound quality.

You can configure the startup volume for the 50’s - ‘The Startup Volume control allows you to determine the volume level when the Beolab 50 wakes as a result of a detected signal or a change in source’.
